I'm still yet to have AF since having my implant removed :( thought I might be showing signs if ov then had a tiny half a day of bleeding, but nothing proper. I was already convinced there would be something wrong, now every day longer with no hint of any sort of cycle is just making me feel a bit panicked. We're due to be starting in April ish, but I wanted at least a couple of months of normal cycles first, so it looks like that's now going to be delayed too. I just want to know if my body works.

Hi JellyBox, don't let it get you down. A couple of years ago I had to have my implant removed, and go back on the pill because it turned me into a psycho!! Everyone reacts differently to the levels of hormones being pumped into our system. Unfortunately, i can't say how long it took me to settle, because I went straight back on the pill after having it removed.

I'd imagine it will take at least 2-3 months before you get a proper period, and another 2-3 months after that for them to settle into anatural cycle.
  • Jelly box I had an implant a few years ago, had it in for 6 months and it took 6 months after that to get my cycles back to any kind of normality but I have pcos and am irregular anyway. Stay positive :) xxx

I know, rationally all that is in my head, but I don't feel particularly rational! I have never had a regular cycle, used to skip months and have stints where I'd have AF every three weeks, and then others where it would be every 5 or 6, but with bleeding lasting 2 weeks. I just wanted to have a "normal" cycle now I'm older, and although this isn't out of the question yet, I can't help but worry that it's going to be wonky again. Been on some form of birth control since I was about 16, not taken religiously, but often enough that I've not had a chance of a proper period for nearly 10 years.

Apologies for the "woe is me" ramble. Need to get over myself and wait to see what my body does!

Hello, hope nobody minds me joining in :)

    My Age/Partners age: 24/29
    Time together: 5 years
What are you waiting for?!: We have a 2.5 year old son who is disabled. We want to a) know if he has a genetic condition and b) enjoy him for a bit longer
When will you be TTC? Sometime in 2015, maybe even 2016
Any preTTC prep? No, just losing weight and generally exercising more
I'm taking my mind off TTC by... I'm very busy with my son and his therapies.

It took 2 years to conceive our son and we were TTC for almost a year before we decided to stop and wait. It's unlikely we'll have a child before 2016/2017 :)

  • Hi ladies! I am rubbish at being a 'regular poster' on these things and have a tendency to dip in and out! But I am a regular reader and have definately been a 'waiting to TTC' lady for about 2 years now!

I just wanted to pop on and respond to a few posts:

ive been on the pill, implant and injection. The implant was great for me for a year when I was travelling, but I actually found after about 14months my periods were all over the place so I had it out. I can't even remember the procedure to have it out so I don't think it's so bad!

ive been on the pill since I was pretty young so I have not idea what my 'real' periods are like!

As of Sunday I have stopped taking my pills ready to start TTC in April (cycles permitting!). It feels such a positive and proactive thing to be doing, like my TTC journey has actually begun! Having said that for some reason right now April feel too long (a bit like waiting for xmas I guess!).

to the ladies who have months, even years until their TTC journey begins, I just wanted to say the time goes quicker than you think! (probably easier to say when looking backwards than forwards). But it does eventually arrive! And then I suppose the trials and tribulations of actually TTC start! I obsess over the other threads with ladies who have had a TTC struggle, and I feel so much for them. In my head I envisage a healthy (and realtively big) baby bump at Christmas! But I also try and stay realistic and remember it can take time. The trouble is when you have been waiting to TTC, before you try TTC, it feels like you have waited too long already!

I hope that my cycle settles and I can officially progress to the TTC board in April, but we shall see!
:) Trying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often! :p
  • Miss Bolan It's nice to hear that time does really pass :rotfl: I feel like I've been waiting my whole blooming life now.

Good luck, and I hope April comes quickly and problem free :)
There is hope for us yet

    Welcome Sequeena :)

Miss Bolan, if all goes to plan with regards to both our cycles, we should be moving over to the TTC thread at the same time! Somehow this is very exciting to me.
  • That's exciting Jellybox - fingers crossed our April plan goes ahead!

Practically me and hubby could start now, but I wanted to wait for my cycle to start first as the doctor advised it was easier to know the date that way. Also (whilst I know it probably won't happen instantly) I'd like to avoid a December baby as we have lots of nieces and nephews around that time and i also think you always get a bit forgotten if you have a Christmas time birthday!

I have had a wonderful day today out in the sunshine with my stepkids, hubby and my sister and nephew. Walking around in the sun with all the other families was lovely. Watching my little nephew bumble around is wonderful... I just can't wait until I am part of that!

I hope everyone else is enjoying the sun this weekend :)

Hi been reading this post for a while and I thought id leave a quick message.

I'm not TTC at the minute thinking of officially starting nearer the end of this year mainly due to me wanting to finish my degree and graduate without having the stress of ttc.

A couple of questions I've been on the pill for 5 years when would be best to come off before we started trying?

Also is there anything else I need to do in preparation, I thought it was pretty straightforward but after reading the posts I'm beginning to understand that it isn't.

    Thanks :)
