Really, relax, the worst part is the anaesthetic, and that's just a normal needle.

I agree, when I had mine done the most annoying thing was that they decided to wrap a HUGE bandage around my arm which meant I could hardly put my jacket on! (They also did this when I had it put in, they must use alot of bandage!)

I took it off as soon as I got in the car and just kept a large plaster on it. You will be fine :)

I've only just had my implant out, and I am petrified of needles and all things related to any sort of procedure like that. I managed to go on my own, with no problem and it didn't hurt at all, not while they did it, or after! I have a very neat little scar, about twice the size of the original one, but they're both tiny! You'll be fine, I'm sure of it :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
One thing I like to think when scared of something like that is 'If I can't get through this how on earth will I get through childbirth?'

Keeping that in mind always snaps me out of being a wuss :D

I'd be fine with childbirth, it's the scalpel cutting thing that freaks me out. I never, ever want to have an operation. It's so wrong! :rotfl: Although if I needed an emergency c-section then so be it, I'd be thinking of the baby then :p

  • I like to think I'd be OK with childbirth, impatience will probably have taken over at that point!

I just hate the idea of general anaesthetic, would rather feel everything than be put to sleep for some reason.

Just popping over from the ttc 12+ thread. Nothing prepares you for the indignities of long term ttc and fertility investigations. Yesterday I lay on a table in a lovely backless gown, with my legs up on the sides of the bed, attended by one radiographer who was shoving a speculum and tube into my cervix, a student who was watching intently and another radiographer who was asking if I had a nice Christmas while photos of my uterus and fallopian tubes flashed up on a screen. If that wasn't bad enough after they were done, they handed me a lovely pair of mesh pants and a thick sanitary pad, the likes I haven't seen since I was 13, and made me put them on in front of them. Then when I got up, I'd bled a bit and left blood stains all over the bench.

I really, really hope none of you need this.

  • Codemonkey So do I. I can't imagine what that must be like.

It puts these small concerns in perspective, and goes to show that nobody really has any idea how much they can put up with until they go through it.

I suppose the point I'm trying to make is, you get used to it. After you've had the numerous blood tests, smears, swabs and dildocam you have no dignity left. :rotfl:

  • Dildocam? I applaud you for keeping your sense of humour!
Unless of course that's the medical term for it, in which case they really need to rethink that.
