It's how they do an internal ultrasound to check your ovaries, or if you require a scan in early pregnancy. So rather than putting the scanner on your stomach as in a traditional ultrasound, they use a probe. The worst thing about it is that it's freezing cold.

I apologise if I'm scaring you lot. This stuff only happens after you've been trying unsuccessfully for over a year, which only happens in about 2% of cases.

It's this. Only they put a condom on it. It's about the size of an adult toy, maybe a little thinner.

Why a condom though? Why not lube? That seems a little odd.

Hopefully that information won't be necessary, but thank you for talking through it instead of casually dropping it in and leaving us to our imaginations.:o Always better to be prepared.

Presumably a condom as it will be used with multiple patients, and I suspect they do use lube. Sorry to weigh in!

Having been lurking (sorry!) on both the TTC and the 12 months plus threads, I've already been trying to prepare myself for the possibilities of the worst, while continuing to hope for the best when my time comes. Ridiculously the thing that bothers me the most, is the thought of having any needles in my hand.

It's nice to have people pop over from other threads though, feels a bit like having a university student coming in to give you a talk at secondary school! (And this is intended to be significantly less sarcastic than it sounds!)

Thing is, we will all get through what we need to, when we need to. Right now, the big hurdle is getting the implant removed, but once that's done, it'll be on to the next thing, hopefully none of us will have too many 'next things' before we are able to have babies, but if we do, we'll deal with them

I still have 18 months to go (until the wedding! GAH).. Feeling so broody all the time. My friends and siblings are having babies and I just wanna get on with it!

I've finished taking my pill today and start on the folic acid tomorrow and back to healthy eating and exercise so will hopefully get back to normal quickly xx
