  • I have moved over to the ttc board but still pop on here every now and then- especially as I feel in limbo at the moment! You should introduce yourself over there- everyone is so lovely.

I did mention the lack of af to the Dr today- he is sending me for a blood test to check my hormones (I was very irregular before going on the pill- but never really thought much about it when I was 16/17!). I will have to ring up and book this on Monday- hopefully I can get an appointment for next week- only problem is I have a phobia of needles (has got a bit better but still not great), so usually my husband or my Mum comes with me- but unless I can get an early one I'll have to go on my own as my Mum doesn't know we are wanting to ttc! (lol plus I have have two lots of blood taken- and one states its a pregnancy test so I can't even lie to my Mum and say its for something else!!!)
  • I'm a little further ahead of you guys in this thread but couldn't help myself from adding something as so many of your comments are the same as I felt.
When considering trying, sensibly we think of all the things that may be an issue, thinking, planning, it never seemed to be the right time.... Partner with children already, him a full time student, small home, me main bread winner & 40!...... Just wanted to say when its right you know it....now have 2 1/2yr old, larger home, still main bread winner but with a fabulous house husband!

Sounds great - well done you :D
  • We've very nearly bought our house, contracts hopefully being exchanged tomorrow, then competition very soon as the house is empty! We both keep referring to the second bedroom as the baby's room, which I think means OH is on board for trying fairly soon! Nexplanon due out January, this is a little frightening though as I had awful, painful periods before, plus they were completely unpredictable as to when they would arrive, and used to last forever :( if this is the case when they come back, I know I'm going to have to get that checked out as it is one thing in a 16 year old, but quite another when you are 25!

Anyway, that's enough for my little update, will try and pop in more regularly from now on.

Oooooooh exciting! Good luck with the move :D
  • Hello ladies,

I've been MIA lately, had a lot on at work and wanting really to put ttc to the back of my mind until it was closer again since it got rather draining emotionally- I'm now about a month away from actually ttc, so it's back on the radar and very much on my mind, I feel a bit of a fraud going over to the ttc boards yet, since I still have a cycle to go until we start, so I'm trying to keep myself busy preparing, but what else can you prepare before you ttc!?

    How is everyone?
Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.

  • Hello everyone,

Nice to see this thread popping up again :)

JellyboxCongratulations on the house! I hope it goes well for you, must be really exciting.

Everyone else, it sounds like you're all moving forward, which is great.
There is hope for us yet
  • Hello everyone!
I thought I would come and say hello! (long-time reader but thought it was about time to join!)

    My TTC Stats:

    My Age/Partners age: 36/41
    Time together: long time! :)
What are you waiting for?!: we've just recently moved house so that's sorted. I am looking for another job (unhappy in current one) and would ideally like to be settled in new one before TTC
When will you be TTC? Hopefully June ish next year (kind of depending on job) - but don't want to leave it too long. We also want to save up a bit and the summer is when we'll have some spare cash to do that with.
Any preTTC prep? Well, I'm doing the BBT thing and charting bleeding days etc. Not sure what else really! I have a coil at the mo so will have to get that out at some stage I guess;)
I'm taking my mind off TTC by... we're having some building work done on the house so I'm knee deep in catalogues for bathrooms and kitchens at the mo!!!! :D

Any advice on ovulation kits/testers etc? How long do you think it's best to start using them before TTC?

I am allergic to certain foods including fruit (except bananas - must be cos I am bananas:rotfl:) so I'm not really getting my 5 a day and I'm worried that I won't be having a properly varied diet - although I love veg. Is that something the GP would advise on?

  • Hello A-P, welcome to the thread,

It's been in a bit of a lull lately, but I guess that has a lot to do with the fact that when you wttc, there isn't much in the department to report! yep still waiting, still not pg!

That said I do think it's good to have an outlet, a chance to voice your feelings and thoughts about ttc, it's a big deal and once it's on your mind once it's hard to stop thinking about, and anyone who isn't wttc can't understand.

As for your concern about having a balanced diet, I'm with the understanding that veg are better than fruit for your diet, fruit should be in smaller quantities- so if you're aiming for 5, 2 should be fruit and 3 should be veg, so if you can have banana's (my fav fruit) then you can probably gain what you need in vits/mins in other veg or foods. If you're concerned, why not supplement with some vitamin tablets?

I went into Boots the other day to look at some vitamin tablets but there was so much choice I didn't know where to start! And I felt shy about asking!
