Those who are waiting to TTC (New Thread)

Welcome hippihaz and TineTT
TineTT, if you have been reading any of my posts, you will understand why I say this, but I would strongly suggest coming off the pill BEFORE you plan to begin TTC, and using other methods until you decide to actually start. I came off the pill at the end of August, plan to start TTC in Jan 2014 and am worrying as I still have not got a period. I know if I had come off the pill in January, and then had had to wait ages for my cycle to sort itself out, I would be feeling really rubbish about all the 'wasted' TTC months. That is just my opinion, though. Congratulations on the impending wedding0 -
Hi Daisie- Af still hasnt shown up for me either, so I do know how you feel- but from what Ive read some ladies do have quiet a wait after coming off the pill so our current wait is nothing too unusual.
The only concern I have is that I was very irregular before going on to the pill (aged 17)- before that I had my first period about 13 and then had yearlys!! I dont think there is any point in going to the Drs quite yet about it but I do need to go back and see my Dr soon though about another ongoing issue I was having so may just mention it if af hasnt made an appearance).0 -
Hi Daisiegg,
I have read it and I am a bit worried about us having to wait for quite a bit, however 2 of my friends came off the pill and fell pregnant straight away. I know this is not the case for everybody and I understand what you are saying. That's what my OH is worried about too. I still think of me being about 25 and having loads of time) so I am not worried about it. The thing is that I don't what to be pregnant on my wedding day which I know is shallow but I would like to enjoy a few drinks and not feeling sick.
I really hope you will be able to start in January as you planned and with a bit of luck we can start our new adventure together)

Daisyegg I can't believe how happy I am you got your period! :rotfl: Now the fun starts...
pm04gn Welcome to the exciting/frustrating/slightly insane world of WTTTC. It's great that you've got such lovely sounding holidays to keep your mind busy!
Rubbish time for me, broodiness is completely out of control, possibly because now would be an awful time to get pregnant. I'm working, attending college and buying my first house. We're extremely poor and exhausted right now, but I've got so obsessed that I even took a pregnancy test over the weekend. (Managed to convince myself I was having symptoms.) The big fat Negative has knocked me a little, even though I knew very well that's what was going to happen. Bleugh, I hate this.
How's everyone else getting by? We need to keep this thread going, it's a fantastic place where we can rant without seeming too insane! There is hope for us yet0 -

Aww, I know what you meanI have done a few pregnancy tests recently. It is so odd after years of not wanting to see a positive on a test, to actually be disappointed with a negative! Our time will come, we just have to try and stat positive in the meantime
Very glad that my period came. I really was getting extremely worried. And guess what....we have had our first *ahem* 'marital relations' using NO protection for the first time ever in my life! I knew it was safe as my period had only just ended so no chance of being fertile. But still. It feels quite exciting! Then as we were cuddling up to go to sleep my husband said something about babies....I can't remember what....and I said 'you know there is no chance we just made a baby then, don't you?' and he said 'oh...' and actually sounded quite disappointed! It is him that is pushing not to start trying quite yet as he is desperate not to have a summer baby. His older child from a long ago relationship is a summer birthday and has never done well at school, and he thinks that is a big part of the reason (I disagree, but that's another story!) I initially completely agreed with him, particularly being a teacher and having seen the statistics etc...but then broodiness took over, I spent a lot of time reading the TTC and long term TTC threads and realised it does not matter when your child is born, what matters is getting a healthy child! So I changed my mind.
pm04gn, welcome! Your holidays sound greatI can completely see why you would not want to be pregnant for them. One of the reasons we didn't start trying straight after our wedding was that we had an amazing holiday this August
we were in Vegas too for a weekend as part of a longer trip, but very depressingly we both had food poisoning or a 24 hour stomach bug, so saw very little of Vegas after our first day! It is not the end of the world as we have been there before and seen everything lots of times, but it was very frustrating! We do have holidays booked now, too....Budapest in January and Boston/Florida/NYC in April. The April holiday is all cancellable if I get pregnant and find I am too sick to travel. We are hoping that won't happen and that we'll be able to go even if I am pregnant, but we will play it by ear.

Thanks daisiegg and sethisis.
Our original plan was to start in April but my bestie is getting married in August and I'm the chief bridesmaid so didn't want to be pregnant for that. After we found that out we figured one more completely adult holiday wouldn't go a miss. However think my OH though that would be in 2015. No such luck mate!0 -
Daisiegg Relations with No Contraception! That must have been quite weird
What are the odds you just fall pregnant now, when least expecting it?
Do summer babies have a harder time of it in school? I suppose it technically makes sense, they'd be quite a bit younger than some of the other kids, so might find things more difficult.
It's quite true though, that as long as the baby is here and healthy, it doesn't matter too much. There is hope for us yet0 -

Yes, as a general trend they do, but I have been utterly slated on a thread on here before for saying that so I won't say anymore!
Yes Relations Without Contraception was very odd! :rotfl: I think it is very unlikely I just fall pregnant now, particularly as I am waiting for hubby to halt Relations Without Contraception (RWC?) in a few days once it no longer feels like a 'safe' time of the month. I am just going to keep my mouth shut and see when it occurs to him! I am also utterly convinced, as I have said before, that it is going to take us ages to conceive.
How are things with you?0
