mobile connections problems

  • Hi everyone,

I spoke to Orange yesterday regarding my contract of two mobile which requires to pay £80 per month. I explained my situation in which I have not been paid by Mobile Connections since May 2007, and asked them to release my contract with Orange; they denied.

By reviewing my contract paper, I have not signed any agreement or contract with Orange at all. All I have is two piece of contract paper from MC regarding the T&C for the cash back claim.

My argument is why will I not be able to stay away from Orange. I mean most of us (I am not sure any of you might have signed contract with service providers) have not signed any contract with Orange, T-mobile or Vodafone, so we dont need to stick with them - they cannot force us to pay any penny, in my opinion!

    Any view on this?

  • This was covered endlessly on the closed forum. It's not worth repeating it for the next six weeks; you are tied into the network contracts regardless of signing bits of paper originally. Unfortunately there is no easy or very satisfactory way out of this. Persuading the network to downsize or hoping for something back from the dealer are the only two likely possibilities. The Working Lunch item was very accurate methinks.
  • Yes they did withdraw from MobileConnections as they didnt wish to be associated with cashback earlier on this year. 3g deals came back last month with non-cashback deals, but agents would get upto £150 for selling a contract.
  • Hi Folks,

Just to let you know that I did say a lot more on the show today but they cut most of it. What seems clear is that Orange (not sure about the rest) are playing hard ball they even have a message on customer services saying they are not taking calls about MC and that customers should speak to trading standards. When I got through and to customer services the chap on the other end he told me he would give me a number to help, it turn out to be a number for MC..what a cheek.

When you think about it they have paid the commission to MC and so they want there pound of flesh, in short somebody’s going to have to pay and I guess that is us. Going to right my letters though as you never know how things might turn out. Also going to speak to my home insurance re my legal protection to see if I could force Orange and T-mobile to cut me loose.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but

For those on 18mths you can down graded after 9 months

For those on 12mths after 6

But only one price plan at a time so the next is £25 per month

According there CS message you can cancel only if you have 2mths left

My guess is the Networks will stick together and see this thing to the bitter end taking th through so looks like it's Diala Resurrection or stuffed!

Good Luck People whatever you decided to do.

Thank you for your great effort. I still stick to my original view mentioned above; I have not signed any contract with Orange. I know there is a binding agreement between Orange and MC which reflects the customers' service. However, network service providers DO NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON; THEY CANNOT SAY IT IS OUR PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO CONTINUE YOUR CONTRACT WITH US - THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. I am not a lawer, but if they want to take me to the court, I will take them too as they must be responsible, even not fully, but partly for this contract. The main thing is I still have my original contract with MC has broken. I will tell them that there is nothing to do with Orange either - it is what Orange told me!

    Cheers
  • I also stopped my Direct Debit yesterday with my BANK, and managed to get them to take my money back from Orange which was about to be debited from my account yesterday. I will pay them no penny from now, see what happens. I am a full time student, and I am in a dept at present, how can I afford to pay them £80 every month without earning any money?

    Thanks

You must do as you think right.

But you are in a binding contract with orange.

Be prepared for them to pursue you with debt collectors, courts etc.

This action could seriously dent your credit status and prevent you getting credit in future for purchases, mortgages etc.

Get some advice from your local CAB before you take this action.
  • I hope the court in the UK is independent and impartial. This happens to thousands of people in the UK. The networks providers tend to kill everyone for money. It sounds very ridiculous. I still repeat there is nothing to do with ORANGE, this is my issue with MC. So if MC broke its contract with me, I has to stop my service until the addressed issues have been sorted out. I think if everyone stick with this idea, I dont think these service providers including Orange will beat us.

    Cheers
  • I'm afraid how you would LIKE things to work is irrelevant. You are now putting yourself in a mess several levels higher than the one you started in - and the new one will take years to put right and only affect YOU - and far more adversely than lost cashbacks! I strongly recommend you reverse what you have done or you will pay a very heavy price and have even more organisations on your enemy list before long. If you don't want advice and knowledge there is little point in blindly writing on these threads. In addition, IF there is any recovery - unlikely as it seems - from MC/Dialmobile you will have forfeited your chances of regaining your cashbacks by breaking your contract with the network. It is an extremely foolish course of action to put it mildly.
