lloyds tsb £3700.00
Started in late feb, usual letters, then MCol which they defended, at this point lost my nerve slightly, as i didnt really want to go to court.
Got letter from court saying case was being transferred to my local court. One week later, on the friday after postal strike received letter from Scam saying bank was in the right, etc, etc, etc and they were defending. At this point i happened on two posts on the consumer advice web site from people who had received this letter and a second letter on the same day with the same dates. the second offering to settle, so at this point i was dis heartend.
Blow me if on the monday morning of last week( a week ago today) i too received a settlement letter saying they didnt want to go to court and were prepared to settle, signed it quickly and sent it back, waiting for funds in to my account now.
I would like to thank martin and all the people who have posted on here, i read the success and it spured me on, well done to everyone, who like me have took on their banks and won and too all still fighting, draw strength from the successs and dont give up0 -
Bank: Nationwide
Amount claimed: £410
Amount paid: £469.83 (inc interest and legal costs)
Location:Paisley
First letter received standard reply of NO. Second letter threatening legal action again received standard reply of NO. Raised court action in small claims court and served them with summons. Settled in full 2 weeks before court return date.
My advice to anyone who is unsure, GO FOR IT - You Will WIN!! The prospect of taking legal action is a bit daunting but that is what the banks are counting on. Don't be put off, it's easy. For the cost of a couple of postage stamps and a trip to the court you get YOUR money back with interest!!:cheesy:0 -

Halifax Bank

Hi Martin!!
Wow..it took a while they dodged and weaved at every corner, they delayed when they could, made me sweat a while too, but finally they paid the money direct into my existing account without a letter or anything. I have moved to Spain and to be honest, I didnt think for 1 min that I would get the money from them, fearing I would have to fly back to UK to attend court, but they just paid the lot into my account and Im over the moon. So happy I watched you on GMTV and started the ball rolling.
Many Thanks

Like so many others I never thought that I would be able to post my story on the success thread. I began my claim in March and became an avid viewer of this site, following everones stories and valuble hints and tips, but most of all gaining more and more confidence from others.
My claim was against Halifax and including interest and court fees of £120 it amounted to £2,400:eek: I took it all the way through to MCOL and I was very nervous about the whole thing. On Friday I recieved a letter from Halifax giving 50% as a gesture of goodwill. Gaining confidence from this site I knew that I had to ring them back and negotiate. I rang Halifax (hands shaking but voice confident) and within a couple of minutes I had the full amount (less interest) and my court fees refunded. It all happened so easily that when I came off the phone I felt shocked then it all sank in and to say I felt over joyed is underestimating it. :j :j :j :j :j :j The guy I spoke to at Halifax was polite and friendly, and I know that I could of held out for the interest but I simply couldnt take the risk. My debits ran up when I was a student and I have always felt like I was playing catch up, this money will seriously help me. :T :T :T
I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone on this site, to let people who are following this thread waiting to hear news on their own claim... dont give up and most off all to thank Martin!!! You have not only improved my life but the vast amount of people who have posted their threads on this site, for that I say THANK YOU, YOU ARE A LEGEND!!!:money: :A :money:0 -
Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £2011(inc interest)
Amount they paid: £1998 (no interest, and two additional charges)
The story:
I wrote the first letter and before sending the Letter Before Action, two months after previous letter, received an offer to settle which I am taking.
Many thanks to this site and CAG.0 -
Further to my last message, saying that Barclay card had paid out, got telephone call from Halifax now.
AMOUNT CLAIMED £60
AMOUNT PAID OUT £105.
Piad £10 for statments which took over 120 days to send me them, so loged a complaint with customer relations, and with the FSA, they just called as they got my FSA complaint and want to get this settled, and offered me £50 bank charges £10 Statments fee and further £45 as an apologie for the time, and all the inconvenience!!
I know the figure is not much, but thats better off in my account, never have been bad with bank charges, but was well worth it, esp with doing my barclaycard as well, claimed £60.12 back from them, so im £165.12 better off just from sending a few letters and couple of phone calls, and a bit of patience.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE STILL CLAIMING!0 -
Bank:ULSTER
Amount reclaimed:£1696.00
Amount they paid:£1720.80(this included either postage or photocopying charges by me)I had already my statements. Sent my 1st letter 11 May,2nd-21 May-the reply from the 2nd said it would take 5-6 weeks for them to investigate further. If I had not heard from them by today(this is when the 8wks were up from the day they would have received my 1st letter,I was sending all to the financial ombudsman tommorrow. I got a letter on Saturday offering the above:T to be paid directly into my account on completion of attached form where they wanted my signature and also to agree not to discloseany related information or the terms of this settlement to any third party.;)Thanks soooooooooooo much to Martin and everyone who has posted in and are involved in this website:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
