Bank: Halifax
Amount Claimed:£6300
Amount received: £6000
Cushty....not bad for a couple of letters and three phone calls, went the route of the Ombudsman and it worked.
One point to make is that all of the staff at Halifax were helpful and polite when I called and after the initial offer negotiations were very painless and swift.
Thanks to all on this site and seriously Martin needs a ble*ding knighthood.
Good luck all0 -
I have been given the full amount back (£2,050) by Nationwide before going to court. Today is the day i could have started the judgement by default stage of the claim but i received a letter over the weekend saying they'd paid the full amount into my account. They also aren't going to close my account but have asked that i don't go over drawn again. I already have another account ready so i'm going to close it anyway. I'm posting this for anyone else that might be trying to or thinking about claiming money back from Nationwide. :j0

Bank: Halifax
Amount claimed: £2300
Amount received: £2000
Started the process in May for £2300. Got usual standard letters and then an offer on Saturday of £1049. Phoned today at 4.30 to say I could not accept it, was very polite and a nice young lady put me on hold, looked at my file and then would I accept £2000. I had previously sent the "without prejudice" letter and said I woudl accept £2000 anyway.
Result.
It has come just at the right time, my son is getting married in august and we have just had our gas fire condemed.
Thank you to Martin and the admins for prompting me to apply :beer:0 -
Bank : HSBC
Amount Claimed : £3800
Amount Paid : £3800
Started in february asking for £2900. Got usual fob off so proceeded to MCOL and added interest on top. After much waiting and them leaving it til the last minute court date was this friday. Recieved offer and posted back acceptance same day. Next letter asking to write to court and drop case as money should be paid within 4 days. Money in account so letter sent to court to conclude case.
Thankyou very much Martin for all the information and tips, and all you other guys (especially rexmundi, nickmack and edinburghlass ) who's advice has been invaluable. To all of you still going through it I say hang on in there til the end. It will be worth it.
Finally my money is my own!

Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount claimed for: 3820
Amount Won: 4500
Started in March with intitial request for list of charges. Then 1st request for 3820, no joy after 2 weeks, except the normal letter to say 'sorry about your complaint, we will look into it'. Second request but with some interest (i was kind!), no joy after 2 weeks, 2nd request re-submitted, no joy after 1 week. Logged the claim with moneyclaim online, easy process, 120 pounds to do. Bank got a solicitor and put in a defence (beginning of June). Court date set for early September. Letter from solicitor on doormat last week, offered me the amount with interest, plus interest upto court date, and 220 pounds for court charges. Took the offer naturally, would have settled for half!! Anyway, new classic VW Beetle on the way for me now as a treat for myself!! Thanks to this site! Thank you all!!

Amount Reclaimed: 774.00
Amount they paid: 750.00
Started process in April, sent all templates, with final one stating we would accept £575 to bring to a conclusion, or court action would commence.
Received letter saying they were still looking into situation. Decided to give it another fortnight before sending off paperwork to small claims court.
Surprise surprise - letter received saying they would pay out £750.00 as end of matter - money would be in account within ten days. Three days later there it was!
Hoorah for Martin - thank you.0 -
Great news, my wife and I have recouped all our bank charges for the past 6 years, I bank with Barclay's, my wife banked with HSBC and we received just under £1400, it took slightly longer than the time they were allocated but they got there in the end, so I'd say to you all out there in cyberspace keep trying and don't get fobbed off with excuses, also thanks martin's money tips for those draft letters you published, although my wife and I had no reason to send them we printed some off just in case, so keep your chin up and very good luck to you all.Martyn :beer:0

BANK: Not allowed to say so we'll call them Berkeleys/Woolnotsorich
AMOUNT: £12,189 and change.
STORY: Started claim at the end of Jan. Statements not received as the said so had them faxed to local branch. Letters sent as per Martin's timeline asking for £8789 in charges plus £2800 interest.
They refused so started proceedings via MCOL. They came back with an offer of £6800 which I declined.
Received a court date for mid September then called their Litigation dept who eventually sent a letter offering £9243.
Called them to ask how they arrived at this figure and was told to cross out this amount, insert the figure I was claiming and send it back.
£12,189 will clear into my account tomorrow!!!!!
:A Thank you so so much to Martin, E-Lass, Rex and Nick for all their help and encouragement and to everyone else for keeping me going thru what at times seemed a lost cause.:A
Good Luck to all who are still claiming. Keep going - it's well worth it!
R.
