Bank: Abbey
Claimed: £2700

Started process in March, received final offer last thursday. I had heard and read that Abbey were difficult to claim from, but found everything very straight forward. I Just followed the instructions given by Martin. Thank you to Martin and everbody who posts on the website which gave me the encouragement to reclaim my charges.

Bank: Halifax PLC
Amount Reclaimed: £715.88
Amount they paid: £715.88
The story:
I followed the steps recommended on this site and used the draft letters (thank you MSE!). Halifax sent standard repsonses, so after 4 letters to them I initiated court action using the moneyclaim website (so simple and so easy!).
Halifax responded to the court indicating that they were going to defend the claim, but at the same time also offered me £295 which would be credited to my account but I would have to ring them within 14 days to refund this 'goodwill gesture' to them. Surprisingly I wasn't able to get hold of the letter writer, and it was told that it was only him that would be able to deal with this!?!?! Needless to say he never returned my call, but a week later I had a letter from another Halifax employee and they were offering the full amount, inc interest and court fees. Smashing! :T
Martin :money: , you are fantastic! Big thanks to you and everyone involved in this site. My next step is to get one of the car stickers and park outside the Halifax... that's after I've closed my accounts with them (they don't need to do it for me... I'm quite happy to leave them!)0 -
Bank: Co-operativeAmount claimed: 2916
Amount received:2899
Sent 1st letter requesting money back, got a reply saying they would look into it and get back to me within four weeks, after two weeks I sent the letter saying their response was not satisfactory and that I intended to take them to court, I did however offer them to settle early for 2200, received another letter saying they were still looking into it and required another four weeks. Just as I was preparing to take it to the FSA I got a letter saying they had paid 2899 into my bank account. Great result there was no threat of closing or downgrading of account.
many thanks to mse0 -
Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Claimed Inc Int: £3,256,56
Amount Settled On: £3,456,56
The story,
I am so glad to be able to post on here at long last :j , I first wrote to Lloyds on 29/3/07 with the 1st letter from the templates. I got the standard reply...Our charges are fair bla bla bla, but we will offer £750 as a good will gesture..I snet the 2nd template letter, to which I got no reply, then followed the 3rd letter, no reply...I then started my claim with MCOL...Lloyds acknowledged on the last day, then put in a defence on the last day..Did not worry me as I assumed this was just a time wasting ploy...I got a letter from SCM stating there defence and why Lloyds will win in court...Then yesterday I got another 2 letters from SCM, one saying that it will go to court and they will win bla bla bla...the other offering me the FULL amount claimed + int+ costs...:j .....I am over the moon..There were times when I thought it would not happen for me, just like a lot of people on here, but reading the posts on here most nights kept me going and got the result I wanted...Keep at it, you WILL win in the end and the banks know it, they just stall till they cant any longer.
Thanks to Martin :money: and all his crew for there help, support and selflessness...Without them and all the people who post on here the banks would still have our money...Martin for PM I say....
Cha Ching the drinks are on me.... ...
All in all it has taken just over 3 months, and the funny thing is I am going to pay off a TSB loan WITH THERE OWN MONEY...:rotfl:0 -
Bank- Barclays
Ammount reclaimed- £585 & £75
Ammount offered (and promptly accepted) £475 & £55.
Story- honestly never believed it would happen, went into it knowing 100% we could not afford nor risk taking them to court so waited my time- they took the full 28 days to send statements, then took a full 14 days to respond saying they'd looked into it, then said they'd hope to have reached a conclusion within 8 weeks and bang on 8 weeks we recieved the 2 offers. Accepted swiftly (in fact don't think i've ever replied so quickly to post in my life)
Money has been used to pay back family we owed money to and to clear DH's capital one card entirely. We're now using the cash we're saving on minimum payments and saving to pay back family to pile into paying off other cards entirely.
A huge :T and  to everyone who started the ball rolling on this, to the wonderful team here at MSE and to the media for making it common knowledge it can be done, also a big thank you to everyone who posted their sucess stories keeping me going with the process when i started to doubt it, i know £530 is small fish compared to many here but it's nearly 3 weeks wages for my husband which makes a big difference when trying to get out of debt. (and the whole experience opened my eyes to how much cash we waste too so hopefully we're at the beginning of a debt free road)
I am now starting on mothercare card, capital one and all of my mothers bank accounts for her!0 -
Claimed £2600

Very happy!! :j Started the process in March and although it has taken longer than 8 weeks it has only cost be the price of the statements a couple of stamps and a couple of phone calls. Hi All,
I have just received (Thursday 5th July) a letter from Lloyds TSB Solicitors making full and final settlement offer for the full amount of my claim. I sent the two letters threatening legal action in May, ended up sueing them and paying the £120 court fee in June (for a claim of £3,400ish).
My court date was the 16th July. I am obviously very happy as I had thought that I might have been missing out due to the couple of cases which have gone through. I have replyed and hopefully will have the money shortly!
Don't give up - The banks will!!
