  • Bank: NatwestClaimed: £1200 + interestReceived: £1200Started the process on May 4th with standard request letter. Received usual reply about 2 weeks later, may take us 6/7 weeks to investigate, blah blah..Sent second letter straight back threatening court action, but no reply. Couldn't afford the court costs so decided to wait it out, and on 5th July, exactly 56 days after they received my request, I received an offer of the full amount minus the interest. Totally happy with that so sent back form straight away. Now just waiting for the cash!To anyone claiming from Natwest just stick to your guns and be patient, they will pay up within the 8 weeks they are allowed, but dont expect it to be any sooner! I havent had to pay any court costs or even send multiple letters, its just a case of sitting it out. I was always worried about losing my account with them since I started the claim, but this has never been an issue and nothing has been threatened, so have managed to get money back and keep all my accounts running without much hassle at all. Thanks to all for the great advice and for giving me the confidence to even attempt taking on such a huge organisation and win!

    Amount refunded: 1600.00
    Bank: Halifax

Started by requesting statements back end of February/beginning of March - did not arrive after 40 days so rang the bank and they sent them out within three! Sent first template letter off (from this site), received a response to say they had received this about a week later stating that they were looking into the complaint and would get back asap. Received a further letter four weeks later saying still no decision but would have one no later than 20th June. Received a letter on the 19th June (!) stating charges are fair blah blah blah - rang Graham for re-evaluation (as per details on Halifax Bank Charges thread) and told him I would not wait longer than 7 days as I had waited 8 weeks already. Sure enough 7 days later received an offer of 923.00, rang to say I was a little disappointed and managed to get the offer raised to 1600.00, didn't push for the full amount as being charged per se was never my argument - just the extortionate amount they charge!
Went to cash machine yesterday lunchtime to find my account 1600.00 better off!!!!! Result!!!!! Thanks to Martin and everyone on this site for their help and information! Good luck to all still 'in the process' - you'll get there in the end!!!!

    Bank: Lloyds TSB
    Amount Reclaimed: £686 + £130.34 interest + £80 court fee = £896.34
    Amount they paid: £907.80
    The story:
Started in December last year after a mate introduced me to this. Got the information on charges, requested it back. Got the usual "Our charges are fair....." rubbish. Replied saying it wasn't good enough etc.... again a reply saying charges were fair.

Started MCOL, acknowledged and then defence entered saying my claim particulars were too vague. Got transferre3d to my local court. Issued court and S, C & M with list of particulars covering all points in S, C & M's defence. Got Court date of 1st August. Received 2 letters from S, C & M on same day (26th June): first saying they were contesting, then the other offering a settlement £11.46 more than requested.

The breakdown of £907.80 was nothing like what I had requested, but still happy!

Money paid into bank on 3rd July...transferred to my parachute account 3 hours later!

Cheers Martin...knight of the realm for you soon I believe!

Amount claimed £638.17 inc court costs and interest

    Amount received £638.17

Started claim in March, just a standard looking into it letter received, no offer received, started MCOL 30/5/07, they acknowledged 6/6/07, but then did not defend so judgement by default 4/7/07, received cheque today for full amount! Glad I went all the way, initial claim was about £400 without interest and court costs. Now after Cap 1 for £450, they have offered £190, have declined at present. Got statements coming from Barclycard and MSDW although they have cashed my cheques weeks ago but seem to be stalling on sending them out.

    Many thanks to Martin

    Lloyds TSB
    Amount Claimed 2109.55 + 120.00 Court Fees
    Amount Received 2329.55

Got a letter from their solicitors this morning brought to me in bed by my daughter and i nearly did cartwheels out of bed on reading the letter! The infamous Lloyds TSB paid up without a fight!
I was a bit worried when they defended so quickly after my registering on MCOL but it just goes to show that you never can tell what these banks are planning on doing!
Hope this is helps people who are in the middle of claiming against Lloyds TSB as i know reading these success stories when i was going through it helped me. Never give up hope, you will win in the end one way or another!:j:T:rotfl:

Sent off a letter to Clydesdale two weeks ago requesting £85 worth of charges be refunded

Got a letter back yesterday saying they were sorry to hear of my dissatisfaction and would refund me 50% of the charges amounting to £42.50.

    That'll do nicely!!!!

    Thanks everyone.
