Just thought I would let you know about a success story.

4th May - Sent the letter off detailing the charges from the past 6 years totalling £558 including the interest.

14th May - HSBC replied saying they would investigate and get back to us. Having seen some messages on the forums saying that people were waiting 8 weeks and getting the charges back we decided to do this.

5th July - Still no news so I emailed them asking what the latest was.

6th July - HSBC replied via email stating that they had sent a letter out offering the full amount back :-)

All we have to do is sign the letter and bobs your uncle. Seems it may be worth waiting the 8 weeks, especially if it is a smaller amount than the £1000's that some are claiming.

Thanks for the help Martin... and everyone else :-)

    What's happening?!?!

wrote to Halifax back in September.... forgot all about it..

wrote to them in March for statements with £5 postal Order.

Had Statements in May, wrote for my £5000+ charges back.

Had a letter saying go away 21 May.

rung for reevaluation on 23rd May, waited 6 weeks.

Spoke to Richard. Had a letter offering 50%

Rung today.... offered full charges of £5353 (not including interest, which I can live with!)

    am a Happy bunny.!!

Thanks to Martin/the Boards for this. just wait for the cold hard cash to hit the account!

    Littlewoods ( Barclaycard)

    amount claimed: £60.12 inc interest
    amount piad: £60.12

Very fast at dealing with my request for statments, and when sending in letters requesting they paid back, they responded in 2 days, very quick, got 1 letter saying they would credit me £16. i got 2 charges at £20 and one at lower £12, so they credited me £16, as this was the difference between old charges and new. i declined, got 2 letters saying they wouldnt give any more. sent them court letter and got phone call advising they will credit me the full amount on this occasion including interest.

Halifax Credit card... finally got my statments from them 109days after recieving my request, and taking it to FSA and ICO. now i have requested they repay me £75 bank charges and intrest on top of this also my £10 for the statments as they have not complied within the given timescale.

I know the amounts are not much but its better than being sat in there accounts! thank you :money: !

    Nat West

    £7735 claimed

    £7735 repaid

Thank you. I downloaded your templates a few months back but I was claiming too much for small claims court. Spoke to Financial Ombudsman Service who said they can pursue much larger claims. One letter from them and another from me and I was offered the full amount last week, which I accepted and three days later it was in my account.

    Thanks again:j

    Bank: Barclays

    Amount Claimed: £880

    Amount Received: £880

The usual story with Barclays, every timescale complied with, court date set for next week, CAG pack up sent, letter offering full amount received.

Quite simple really and totally painless.

Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to martin, first saw him on tv last year talking about bank charges but never got round to it, glad I did!!

These bank charges caused me years of hell never been able to gain control because of them.

this is how it went for me-
wrote to request statments in march, they never arrived. Called natwest and they sent them straight away free of charge.
wrote first letter early may, heard from them end of may to say they had 8 weeks.
sent a couple more letters, emails and called a few more times. To be honest I dont think this helped, natwest were bang on to the 7th week like they said they would. so hang on in there!!

I was paid the full amount plus half the interest the total been ....... £3048!!!

My tips would be call up for statments, do not hand anything in to your branch send it recorded post. Im not sure if any of my letters or emails worked but I was quite firm with them but always polite.

Im treating my self to a few new essentials (new clothes, new pc hoildays etc :D )

good luck everyone you will get there in the end!
  • Bank: LLOYDS
    Amount Claimed: £4206.15
    Amount Won: £4475.01

This was hard work but so very worth it....I followed all the instructions on website. Then they put in a defence and I crumbled!! My husband talked me round, I submitted all info into court. Then I received 2 letters, the 1st which told me they were defending it blah blah and then I opened the 2nd and they were telling me they would settle in full plus costs. I was absolutely over the moon and proud of myself for going through with it all the way. The money arrived in the bank wednesday, clearing my overdraft. I intend now to keep the account open for now and keep within my overdraft limits so I don't have to go through it again. Its worth doing and keeping positive even when you've totally had enough of it all and want to give up. Thanks for all invaluable advice I have got from these forums.:j
