Requested charges back from Abbey, got the usual bank is right not paying you a penny letter
Instructed MCOL to claim money and Abbey submitted a defence
After getting the court date I contacted abbey by phone and gave them one last chance to settle......and they did :j
Clamed £2545.00 (charges+interest+court fee)
Received £2139.22
Thanks to Martin :money: and everyone who posted on here! sometimes I felt in over my head, but I kept cool  and finished the game!
I will now go on to help my friends fight the good fight!0 -
Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Reclaimed: £4800
Amount they paid: £4800 + further interest and fees
The story: Started in February, all standard and per Lloyds routine. Went to MCOL, Loyds defended; court date for 19 September and guess what! One week later got an offer for the lot plus further interest from the date of the issue of proceedings!!!
Seems Lloyds are not defending everything all the way!!
Keeping your cool is the best advice - there was many a time I wanted to drop out of this - and was even tempted by a letter from an agency saying they could take the process out of my hands - thank goodness I didn't!!
Thanks to this website!

Lloyd TSB
Claimed: £2000
Paid: £2000
Started claim late Feb. Lloyds ignored all letters. Had to get to on-line claim. Lloyds paid up 11 days later!0 -
Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount Claimed = 3026.00
Amount Accepted = 1683.00
Put the claim in for 3026 which included interest of 700.
After about 2-3 months, received a letter offering 1683 as a goodwill gesture. Wanted to fight for 3026 but realised we'd probably included Royalties Gold Account charges of 10 pound per month. Couldn't be bothered starting from scratch. Worked out if he'd had Royalties account for 6 years we'd have to take off 720, which would be a total of 1600 without interest so snatched their hand off!!!
Now have a much healthier savings account!!! :T
Thanks to Martin and the team for your help0 -
HSBC
Claimed £2550.50
Accepted £2150.23
started my claim back in April had to go all the way to the court process, even had to wait the 28 days for them to acknowledge and defend. I thought i was going to have to wait months for a court date. Then i awoke this afternoon after my night shift - letter from HSBC - charges are legal blah, blah, blah however management time and irretriveable legal cost we are prepared to offer £2150.23 in full and final settlement. Have accepted.
THANK YOU SO MUCH MARTIN :money:

a few days ago i wrote in this forum asking wheter i should re-calculate the interest when i send in the second letter, i was pursuing the claim on behalf of my fiance,i was going to post the letter on monday. what happens this morning???? she gets a reply from hsbc, 3 days shy of the 8 weeks since i sent the first letter, offering her £2652.53. she was claiming £3201.35 money she thought had gone forever !!!! we have booked a holiday to california, the least she deserves, since she has been training hard to be a nurse for the past three years, with her young daughter and myself.
I had to laugh :rotfl: after reading the response from hsbc which says that if the claim proceeded to court they would be confident that they would successfully resist any legal challenge in relation to the fees, followed by, "we are, however, mindful of the management time and irrecoverable legal costs that may be incurred in relation to such a claim.for those commercial reasons alone and without any admission of liability whatsoever,we are prepared to make a payment of £2623.53!!!!!" to me that sounds like they are shi**ing themselves in case they have to reveal the true cost of the so called charges !!!!
on a final note i would like to thank this website and those people that responded to my posts on the forums, without their help i wouldn't have known that these charges were recoverable and how to go about it.many thanks again woody .........................:T0 -

Bank: LLoyds
Amount Claimed: £355.00
They Paid: £355.00
Started in May 2007, I wrote the first letter asking for the charges and rec'vd the standard 'we think they are fair so just go away letter' followed this up with the 2nd letter threatening court action and they paid up almost immeadiatley! :T The money went straight into my account.
Currently pursuing our joint account also with Lloyds bank for nearly £7,000. Also attempting to claim from Capital One and Vanquis Bank for their credit card charges.
I have also been helping my sister reclaim £455.00 from Halifax bank, I have written two letters from her and she has rec'vd a letter offering £500 in full and final settlement - more than we had asked for. :rotfl:
This site is amazing!!:beer:0 -
Success at last!!

Gave them 4 weeks to pay up - Nothing.
Initiated MCOL beginning of May.
No defence offered, won case through default.
Wrote Halifax another letter giving them 14 days to pay or bailiffs. No reply.
Bailiff action initiated.
14 days later (Friday 06/07)checked on line account 2 cash deposits one for £2,620.34 and one for £55(bailiffs charge)
Result=RESULT:beer:
