Bank: Natwest
Amount Claimed: £1091.00
Amount Paid: £1196.00
Story: Well my claim has been ongoing for about 11 weeks and finally on sat they sent an offer letter!
First sent letter back in March and not received anything at all from Natwest in writing acknowledging my claim. Proceeded with 2nd letter then 3rd letter and decided not to go through MCOL as 1 i didnt have the money and secondly i was told on several occassions my offer letter would be with me before the 8 weeks.
I made a complaint to the FO, rang and emailed natwest customer relations several times each time told a different story so all in all it was a very stressful procedure. I was very annoyed at the service i received but am happy now i have finally received my offer. I dont know where they got the figure from but will be taking it and the extra can go towards the phone bill, postage and for my time hanging on that sodding phone listening to that awful music! haha
Just like to say thanks to Martin and everyone on this site that has offered advice and support & anyone claiming who feels like giving up (i felt like many a time) DONT! carry on and eventually you will get there!
Will be treating myself to a few beers this wknd to celebrate  :jLBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -
Bank : Abbey
Amount Claimed : £2915.33 + Court Costs ( £220 ) = £3135.33
Amount Paid : £2664.15
Long Story! Started in Feb, requested statements, all arrived in three weeks in legable format! 1st letter sent, standard response received " we are sorry you feel the need to complain, we are looking into it ". Sent second letter, same response again "sorry".
Filed with MCOL, Abbey acknowledged and submitted the standard defence that everyone else has had. Claim was moved to my local court and Judge asked for an allocation questionaire. I completed this but at the same time telephoned to see if we could settle out of court. After hours wasted on hold, I found an email address on this fabulous site, sent off the email and received a response within 10 mins!!!!
My email had been forwarded to the legal team and would be dealt with shortly. In the meantime I received my court date - 3rd August 2007. Court bundle due by 8th June.
I received a phone call from the legal team with an offer of £1972.36 I said I wanted £3000 they said no!
They called back with £2444.15 ( where do they get these amounts from !!!) I said I would think about it, called back four days later as I didn't want to seem too keen and said ok - if you add the court fees. They said YES!!!!!:T
I have to admit I was a little frightened by recent news reports and was worried what would happen if I waited until August. At the same time I wanted as much off of them as possible!!!!!
I can't thank Martin enough - you truely are a superstar!:A

Keep pushing everyone, you will succeed!
I'm going to pay off my Abbey credit card, cut up the card, pay off my overdraft and close the account - Thanks very much Abbey, I look forward to never dealing with you again:j0 -

Hi All,
Some more good news, just "Negotiated" with Halifax a return of £1150 from a claim of £1150. This was after first being declined and then getting a 50% offer. YOU MUST RING THE NUMBER AT THE TOP OF THE OFFER LETTER. From my experience the person on the other end of the phone doesn't tend to be a very good negotiator. Anyway we have a baby due in the next couple of days so this is going to be very useful.
Thanks for the letters and tools on the site i am now helping 3 friends get their charges back.0 -
Bank: Barclays
Ammount claimed: £590

Thanks Martin!!!!! :j:T
Now i am going to try and claim back my catalogue charges!!0 -
Nat West Bank
Amount Claimed £6,540
Amount Paid £8,158 which include interest and Court fees0 -
Royal bank of Scotland
Amount claimed £4454.00 plus interest of just over £1150.00
Amount offered £4450.00
Sent 1st letter and got the standard "we're investigating it" letter 2 weeks later.
Sent 2nd letter and got same standard letter 2 weeks later but decided to leave off starting court proceedings until the end of the month when i got paid as court costs were £250.
Was all set to start proceedings at the weekend, 4 weeks after the banks second reply but received a letter on Friday offering £4450.00 which i will accept.
The only reason i included interest in the first place was because i read on this site that it may be a good idea to do that as they often offer the full amount to avoid paying the interest, that was happily the case here.
Thanks Martin  with your help i'm now over 4 grand richer and have scored a morale victory to boot.

Bank: Halifax
Amount clamimed: £622
Amount Paid: £450
Basically sent all the right letters. Was patient and gave them thier 8 weeks to be nice. They sent the classic sorry letter. I rang and asked them to look into it again. The next day £187.15 was in my account. I rang today to say was that from you and if it is it isn't good enough. They offered £450 which I accepted. I know I prob should have pushed for the full amount but I'm just glad I got that much!!! It's already been put into my account!!!
Thank you Martin for all the advice!0 -

:money: :T :A  I'm still in shock but very happy. On Friday the 1st of June I received an award of £4355 from Nationwide. After placing a money claim on line for £4777 and with only four days to go before judgement day the money was quietly slipped into my account. All this after three letters to Nationwide, opening a new current account with Lloyds and taking Nationwide to court (very scarey) through moneyclaim on line, a quick acknowledgement within 5 days by Nationwide and my heart in my mouth for most of the time! The whole process took about 2 and a half months.
Many thanks to Martin and to all the useful posts, they kept me going!!! Don't give up just hang on in there !!!!!!!!!!!!0
