Bank Charges Success Stories II

Regarding post number #33 in this success stories thread. I've emailed the author directly, but for all to be aware, a name was mentioned as someone helpful from Barclays. I'm not quite so sure however that Barclays would consider that person quite so helpful, and as such that person may get into a little strife  if anyone who works for Barclays reviews these pages, which they might well do. An easy mistake to make, but I'd suggest sticking to telephone numbers only in futureBuzz Lightale

Yay!
Bank - Natwest
Claimed - £1468.20 (inc interest) £1321.00 (without interest)
Offered - £1317.00
Accepted!
1st letter March 24th.
Started a complaint a few days later for the way in which our account was handled. (Nightmare)
2nd letter April 15th.
3rd letter May 3rd.
Offer - May 21st.
£1317.00 in bank May 31st.
In addition, my complaint was upheld and compensation of £250 offered May 22nd.
The complaint entailed many emails, letters and phone calls. The charges refund was less stressful and all because of the support this forum and Martin have given. Thank you all very much.
Keep the faith and plough on!

Bank: Woolwich
Claimed: £3,200.00 - Without Interest Charges
Paid: £2,756.00
Started the long process in March 2007 with the help of Martin's template letters. Wanted the charges back but if i am honest had little faith that I would be successful due to the large volume of people claiming as well. I was shocked at the amount of charges that had been applied to my account over a six year period - all that money. Had the letter saying they would get back to me by 29th May with a "resolution" - even then I thought it would just be a fob off. The letter arrived - two paragraphs of no admission of liability and terms and conditions and disagree with your view. Reading it from top to bottom I thought we were doomed..... then get to near the end of the letter and they offer me £2,756.00 to settle. When I got up from the floor I was really chuffed - all that letter writing, the waiting, the threat of court - a success of the little person against the bank!!!
All I can say is do it - we had nothing to loose and everything to gain - thanks Martin and all the chat room bods who supported us - cheers!
Taking the kids to New York for Christmas - the memories will be priceless....0 -
I've just been offered over £2400, from HSBC, which is more than I set out to claim, after the interest.
Good luck to everyone else claiming.
For those that are sceptical, don't be put off... all it takes is a few letters, time and patience.

Sent 2 letters, which were totally ignored (like Alliance & Leicester), issued court proceedings with interest @ 8% and they responded within 2 day offering the full amount! :cheesy: 6 weeks from start to finish. Why can't they just all accept that its cheaper to sort it out quickly before they get charged 8% and court fees?Got It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -

Bank: Natwest
Amount claimed: £3270 + £653.77 interest = £3905.77
Amount offered: £3464.00
Started the process with standard letter 1 on 28 Feb. Until today I had received no response from Natwest except my wad of statements - badly packaged with no covering note, compliments slip or anything.
Followed Martins procedure exactly, word for word, including the interest calculator, and finally submitted court claim (£120) via moneyclaim on the internet. The claim was aknowledged on the last day of the 14 day period (yesterday).
Today received what I assume is a standard letter explaining why the bank is not at fault, but at the same time offering £3464 paid into my account. As this is the total charges plus almost a third of the interest I claimed, I am pretty happy.
They have included a standard acceptance form for me to return (full and finsl settlement etc). They indicate no timescale for the payment, so I am thinking of returning it with words added such as 'on condition that the payment is made within 7 days of the date of this form', just in case they try to string it out any longer.0 -
Bank: Lloyds Tsb
amount claimed £4660 inc interest
amount paid £4660
Wow !!!! I did it after over 6 months of trying they finally paid out. We did take it to court and they defended everything however 2 weeks prior to going to court they paid out including all charges. I never thought this would happen and now all the credit card charges I have also claimed for are starting to roll in too including capital one and mbna. Thanks to martin we are now back on track after what has been a very dark few months. Thanks Martin XXX0 -
