    Bank - Abbey.

    Claim - Just under £4,730

    Paid - Just about £4,700

It took almost 6 months because Abbey are pretty stubborn - I had to threaten court & they didn't leave a phone number for us to call & negotiate.

We took £4,700 because they felt that they had to negotiate something off. We even got the court defence but don't let that put you off. It pays off!!
  • Success with Lloyds TSB

Amount claimed: £1255 (including interest, £1040 without)
    Amount paid: £1070

Having read all of Martin's advice I successfully managed to reclaim a large proportion of my step-sons charges.
After getting the usual responses from the bank we found ourselves at the "going to court" phase. I had seen an article about the Financial Ombudsman so decided to try that.
The first letter was sent to the bank on 16th January 2007 and this morning we received a letter from the FO to say that the bank would be refunding the money within 10 days!

Keep trying, its worth it in the end!

A big thanks to all at moneysavingsexpert.com for all the great advice

  • :D Amount claimed £2225
    Amount received £1957.57?:j :j :j

Was starting to think that i would never get to post on the success board,

Requested my charges back on 1st april and then emailed them on a weekly basis (just to make sure they hadnt forgotten me) got an offer on 29th may
they did get back to me within the 8 week timescale and am prepared to accept slightly less than full amount as i have not been very good at managing my finances in the past, and after all, up untill march i had written the money off as i didnt know that i could get it back.

Thank you so much to all of those who have posted on here as your advice and words of encouragement have been very very valuble.

AND A MASSIVE MASSIVE THANKYOU TO MARTIN YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE SUPERSTAR :money: :money:
