  • I was on here yesterday talking to everyone who had received their money back and have to admit I was slightly jelous as mine had been dragging on.
When I got home at night there was a letter sitting for me.
Opened it up and saw that it was from the Financial Ombudsman service telling me that LLOYDS tsb had agreed to pay me £440 to drop the case - I ONLY CLAIMED FOR £348 !!!!

I'm over the moon ! the drinks are on Lloyds this summer !

    Bank Royal Bank of Scotland
    Amount claimed £4225
    Amount received £4225

It seems RBS are one of the best at refunding without much fuss.
I sent a copy of my statements to my local branch by recorded delivery at a cost of £1:30.
Received the usual 14 day letter about five days later.
I received my standard offer letter on Wednesday this week (exactly 8 weeks later) for the full amount and sent the acceptance slip back the same day.
RBS made an Inter Branch Payment into my account today (2 days later!!)
It all seems far to easy, so I'm waiting for some kind of RBS backlash further down the line so I may change banks soon.
Anyway I shall be making a nice £4k capital payment off my mortgage on Monday!
Best of luck to those still pursuing calims.

Just to let everyone know that Halifax Plc have returned £1,427.93 to me from my personal account as from yesterday, and I know its not the full amount as I am £125.00 short but its fab and I have taken it. I would like to thank Martin Lewis for all of his help in not letting the banks get away with our money. I am so pleased!!:rotfl:

My partner and I are now going to proceed with our joint account to see if they will settle at £1039.38 as there is £1385.85 to be claimed back and then we are going to close both of our accounts with halifax, as we are now with RBS.

    Many Thanks

    Lloyds TSB

    Amount claimed £2223.50
    Amount received £2223.50

Lloyds solicitors contacted me last week saying despite the charges being totaly fair the case would cost them too much money if it were to go any further (our court date was set for 14th/7).

They tried every trick in the book, including the "claim too vague" defence but between here and the CAG website I put everything right and they folded, the money was credited ino by account thursday in full.

If you read this do not give up, I really thought I was in trouble a few times and never felt like the money was ever coming right up until the letter to settle. I paid off my lloyds credit card and overdraft, closed my account and still have money left to enjoy!

Thank you so much Martin and everyone else who has posted helpful advice on the forums.

    Rob.

    Bank: Abbey
Amount claimed: £610 (including MCOL fees and interest)
    Amount received: £510

Sent the original letter 9th March asking for bank charges (£467) to be repaid. Got the usual reply, that they are looking into our complaint. After 4 weeks sent 2nd letter, still no offer of payment, so filed MCOL on 30/4/07, which was defended by Abbey. 2 weeks ago, phoned Abbey to speak to Inga Kirkman, and she agreed to pay £510. We feel she may have gone higher with her offer, but we were more than happy with that amount, as we did not want it to get as far as court.

Thanks for all the help. We could not have done it without this website.
  • Bank: RBS
    Amount claimed: £1049
    Amount received:£1049

Sent the original letter March asking for bank charges (£1049) to be repaid. Got the usual reply, that they are looking into our complaint. After 8 weeks , got an offer of the full amount. On the original letter I submitted 2 claims,
they only offered on 1 . I telephone RBS who apologiesd for the mix up and they stated are looking into the 2nd claim and today i received conformation of that
They could not have been more helpful.
