Just like to say a big thank you to Martin Lewis and everyone on this web site for their invaluable help. I first started the process at the end of March with my first cheque arriving about three weeks ago.
To those people that haven't done anything yet GET ON WITH IT ! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
As a quick aside a friend of mine who is always skint hasn't done anything yet and is owed thousands! So my response to him now is "No you can't borrow a tenner" Muppet
Again a big thankyou,

Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland Royalties Gold Account
Amount Reclaimed:£3500
Amount they paid:£2960
The story:
Using template letter 1 I requested 6 yrs backdated statements on 01/04/07 sending £10 fee which they kept (although partner also claiming from Midland was sent his fee back) I recieved statements within two weeks.
Using template letter 2 Sent demand of refund of all and I mean all charges on 21/04/07 recieved letter back of acknowledgement a week later . Recieved offer of settlement on 21/06/07 no quibbles other than what amounted to them saying you agreed our terms on opening account blah blah if you dont accept this offer and take us to court we will reduce your account to basic keyline account blah blah then offered me the settlement figure above. Happy to accept this as I had added the monthly £12 service fee to push my luck! Sent signed agreement back to them same day now just waiting for the notes to slide back into my account So all in all got all my money back as well as kept my Royalties Gold account!! well chuffed!!!
Now who shall I go for next????

Hi all
well we have finally had an offer a week before we were due to go to court with Barclays. It has taken 8 months!!! we were about to give up hope but after ringing barclays they finally offered £2700 (claimed 3100). apparently the key to it is to ring as near to the court date as possible as they are only dealing with cases that are nearly due. they said they had not recieved any of our nudge letters and didnt even know it was due to go to court and could we fax them the details of the hearing!!
but anyway dont give up hope this money means everything for us. last week i didnt even have any money to put petrol in to get to work so thank you martin you are a godsend.xx0 -
victory is mine.
claimed £1120.0 inc interest and mcol fee.
payed £1120.0
Followed all the advise from this site, sent 1st letter 28th feb.
2nd letter 23rd march
filed MCOL 3rd april.
they issued defence 11th april
Filled in AQ 4th june and was waiting for date.
Received letter today from their solicitor.
blah, blah, blah 'we will pay all costs on this occasion but don't tell anybody or we won't pay'
Oh yes you will pay because if you don't i carry on with court case, you don't turn up and i win Derrrrrr!!!!!
Heres the funny thing though, about three weeks ago, after the court victory for Lloyds, i must admit i nearly buckled, phoned their solicitor and told them i was willing to accept just the charges and would waive the interest.
'If Lloyds want to negotiate they will contact you'
Well.. they didn't, you did yahooo.
Massive thanks to all who posted threads on this site, read them everyday to give me confidence.
Also big thanks to Stephen Holderne for the advise.
i have a friend who claimed exactly the same time as me also against Lloyds and he received his offer letter yesterday £2,580.
looks to me like the format for Lloyds is 4 month ducking and diving in the hope you go away.
Don't settle for less than the full amount and if you havent heard anything after 4 months it may be worth giving their solicitors a bell, just in case you've slipped thriugh the net.
other success.
claimed £250 for daughter from Abbey, payed up 3 weeks ago.
on going.
£3,500 daughters boyfriend, Barclays.
The dosey git has spent it already.0 -
Bank: GE MONEY
Amount Reclaimed: £15
Amount they paid: £15
The story: Wrote to them 4wks ago requesting information on my HOUSE OF FRASER CARD, wasnt sure if i'd ever incurred a charge, but thought i'd give it a go anyway!
Received a letter last week saying they'd been inundated with requests such as this so there'd be a 4wk wait for info.
This morning received a letter saying i'd only incurred only one charge back in 2002 of £15 'I have agreed, on this occassion as a gesture of goodwill to refund the charges that you have incurred in full and final settlement of this matter' am now awaiting the cheque. Bonus, only £15~but £15 i'd wrote off a long time ago! Now to get onto them about my TOPSHOP&NEW LOOK accounts~very easy!
Also had £144 back from CAPITAL ONE after originally requesting £360, am currently trying to recoup £1136 from Lloyds TSB~am at MCOL stage and SCAM are intending to defend the claim, to say i'm bricking it is putting it mildly what if i have to go to court??i'll flake i'm sure!!
I also intend to claim from BARCLAYCARD&MBNA and am helping my friend out with a claim from BARCLAYS for £4710, so wish us luck please........and good luck to you all also!
Big *HIGH FIVE* to Martin and all at MSE THANKYOU!!0 -
Bank: Nationwide
Amount Claimed: £3140.02
Amount Refunded: £4240.02
Oh my god, I thought I would never write on this page.
Started claim back in Feb 07. 2 Fob off letters, I then filed on-line. Got acknowledgement really quickly, then waited. Nationwide filed defence on last day possible, 11th June. I emailed the solicitor as I still hadn't received the papers (still haven't). I offered to settle for a lesser amount, which was refused. Sat and waited for paper work, and just checked my account yesterday to see 5 separate credits going in over the day, amounting to the £4240.02. More than expected, and still no communication from NW. Have checked my account again today, to check that I'm not dreaming!! Still there
Thanks everyone on these pages, for giving me inspiration. I really thought I wasn't going to win. Its cleared our overdraft, and given us some money on the account.
Am waiting for HSBC now, its been 3 weeks and no response.
Good luck everyone, and keep trying. Nationwide seem to be the worst, but they give you the money in the end.0 -

As a gesture of goodwill!!!!

Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland (Paisley branch)
Amount Reclaimed: £975
Amount they paid: £975
First letter sent off requesting charges be paid back, but it was ignored. Second letter sent asking for charges (including interest) and threatening court action, one week later I received a letter informing me that they'd repay the full amount as a show of good will. Another couple of days and it was paid directly into my account. JOY!0 -

Bank; Nat West
Amount Claimed; 1245.31
Amount Offered; 976.00
I sent the first letter on 26th April 2007, claiming my charges and interest. I recieved a reply telling me they were looking into it on 10thg May, i sent the second letter threatening court on the same day. I heard nothing , so after 2 weeks i rang them, they told me they had until 7th July to respond, so i held off going to court until that date. Recieved an offer this morning,23rd June, which i am going to accept.
Thanks, Martin for your help, and to anyone who hasn't done it, go for it.0
