Bank: MBNA
Amount claimed:£993
Amount offered: £993
On 2nd May I was offered a GWG of £460 by MBNA which I accepted without predjudice. I sent them a letter on 11th May saying I would be proceeding to the next stage and they should advise their legal team of this.
A lot has happened since then and to be honest I'd forgotten I sent this letter but today I got another letter offering ALL of the remaining balance!!! Whooopeeeeee!!!!! Took time but abso;utely no hassle!! Got to be worth it!!
Unfortunately, before the initial payout they frooze my account and it's still frozen so I don't have access to my 'winnings' but it's lowere my debt to them by £933 all from 3 letters!!!!!!!!11

It's taken 7/8 long months but...
Claimed: 2900
Settled: 2900
3 working days before the court date, talk about cutting it fine, I was all set to go to court as well, nice relief - booked the day off already but I think I'll have a lay in and take it easy for a day, been working 7 days a week with 2 jobs so this is a nice break, I can now afford to cut back on my hours slightly :)Cheers MoneySavingExpert, I used all of the template letters from here, without this 'site I would never have gotten this money. My signature doesn't reflect it yet but my debt will now stand at under 10k with much lower interest rates than it was, hope to have wiped it all off within 12 months.Still smiling0 -
Bank :Barclays ammount claimed :£3800Ammount offered :£2500Took 4 phone calls and about 6 weeks to obtain coppies of bank statements (also didnt get charged for them as i complained about the wait!!)The first responce to my claim was that it would take up to 40days to respond! wrote back and gave them 2 weeks to settle or i would take them to court.two weeks later recieved a letter offering me £2500. without admiting liability as a "goodwill" gesture which i accepted.nice one Martin Cheers0

Claimed around £1,000 on each of two accounts, and got about £900 refunded on each!
This was the easiest money I've ever come by. I sent a standard letter requesting the refunds, and received, by return, letters making the offers. The bank stated that they believed that they would win in court, but were paying up in order to avoid the costs associated with a case. Boy am I a happy bunny!0 -
Bank: Sh-Abbey
Amount claimed: £1,465
Amount to be paid: Offer to settle in full
Started the whole process on behalf of my bro in November. Got a court date of 2nd July, submitted court bundle on 18th June and got nervous, very nervous. Then to my delight got a letter from the court yesterday to say that the bank had offered to settle in full. I am ecstatic as I was getting really worried that I had got my bro's hopes up only to be dashed.
Thanks so much for all the time, attention and advice given on the boards.

Requested statements middle of April. Phoned 0845 6013399 put through to lending department who sent statements for both mine and my husbands accounts free of charge.
Sent letter: 29th April
Sent second letter: 20th May
Asked to wait up to 8 weeks for response, phoned a couple of times to check progress.
Recieved offer for my husbands account Saturday 16th June, sent acceptance back same day recorded. Money in account lunchtime today.
Recieved offer on my account Wednesday 20th just waiting for my money to arrive. Looks like they're paying out quite quickly upon reciept of acceptance.
Thanks Martin for all your advice, and everyone else on the boards. I haven't posted before but am a regular viewer. Cost me the price of 3 recorded delivery per account. Fantastic!0 -
HALIFAX PAY OUT
1st Account: Claimed £1900.00 Paid £1718.75
2nd Account: Claimed £790.00 Paid £529.88
Total Claimed £ 2690.00 paid £2248.63
Here is my story.
Phoned the Ombudsman, Who Filed my claim on my behalf, Received, after 8 weeks the Thanks But no Thanks Letter, Due to t&c the charges stand,,, blah blah blah... Phoned Customer Relations.
Informed them I was not happy with the outcome & that if I do not receive an offer in the next 7 days I would file court Proceedings for full amount plus interest. 8 days later, Phone Call, Offering me £1517.50 (for both accounts)This letter was received on the Saturday, checked my bank account on Monday Morning, And there was the payout from them, I had neither accepted nor declined this offer.
Called them, Told them I was not happy with the offer, but would accept as part payment, Been speaking to them today, And offered me a further amount of £731.13 Which I have accepted.:j :j :j
£441.37 Short of the the full amount, But I cannot Grumble at all, I have not had to go to court, And I am very happy with the outcome.
I will also say, Halifax have been great with me, really friendly & Helpful.
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!
Think I will be getting Drunk tonight... lol...

Had to get to the court stage before the Royal bank of Scotland offered to pay a "goodwill gesture" of £920 which is charges minus the interest. Although I had to pay the court fee I have £800 I thought I would never see again! If you are in two minds whether or not to claim, my advice is to go for it following Martins letter templates on his website.0

Took 3 months with Barclays.
After EVENTUALLY getting the statements, wrote to them asking for £2087(inc. interest)
20/04/07- sorry that you feel the need to complain.......will get back to you by 15/05/07
16/05/07- sorry about the delay....will get back no later than 13/06/07
Decided to wait it out, and then on 10/06/07 got an offer of £1370!
Thought this figure sounded familiar and checked my balance which was COINCIDENTALLY £1379 overdrawn!!
Decided to take the offer as needed the money for up and coming battle with Halifax and holiday.:rotfl:
Halifax am at MCOL stage and the 14 day clock started ticking for them at Midday today for £1216. Bring it on!!
MONUMENT credit card as an after thought
1st letter 11-5-07 asking for charges
24-5-07 list of charges sent to me with a letter saying DON'T BOTHER TRYING!! (338 inc interest)
24-5-07 2ND letter sent
29-5-07 nice letter, we are looking into it, no longer than 22/6/07
12/6/07 letter saying I had added it up wrong as I had included all the £12 fines(fair enough) We disagree but will give you £168-no liability etc.
Accepted:T
