  • Bank: Barclays

    Amount claimed: 1575 + interest

    Amount paid: 1200 :j

The process was really quick and only took 8 weeks to get an offer, which we are really happy with :rotfl: me and the family can enjoy our holiday this year thanks to Barclays

Good luck everyone and THANKS martin your a star :kisses:
  • Bank: HBOS
    Amount Reclaimed: Just over £1,000
They Paid: Full amount + interest + court charges
This is my daughter's claim that I helped her with. We started 16th March 2007 with first letter to bank and concluded 8th June 2007 with full amount paid into her bank account. We went through the full lot and managed to stay strong enough to stick to our time scale and not submit to theirs. It was very scary, particularly when one was kicked out by a judge right in the middle of our process, but thanks to all the advice on MSE and the forums we did it. :j :j
  • Hi, claimed from Nat West £1246 paid out £1246
followed Martin's advice, with no repsonse from Nat West. Decided I would take them to court as I had threatened, but didn't do it for 21 days instead of the stated 14. Wish I'd waited a little longer, as their letter accepting my claim arrived in the same post as the confirmation from the court that my case was being served. Rang court to say had been paid, but have paid £120court fees, oh well I still received over £1000!
    Thanks Martin:j
  • Bank: Natwest
    Amount Reclaimed:£1057
    Amount they paid:£1057

I sent the first letter and got a phone call saying it had to go to another department so would take longer than the time limit. Allowed another week, didn't hear from them. Sent the second letter. No reply. Filed a claim. 2 days before judgement day I recieved a letter disagreeing with my claim but, however, on this occassion, they were willing to offer me the complete sum as a gesture of good will. I accepted and they paid up in 5 days. And they didn't even shut down my account!
Score one for the little man!:j
Interesting post script to this story. A day after I had closed the case with the court I recieved their defense from their solicitors expecting me to substantiate my claim. I sent them a copy of their clients offer and I haven't heard from them since. Don't be scared. Take it to 'em!
    Thanks Martin.
  • Anyone have a Smile account from the Coop?, if so it looks like they will pay your charges back without much of a fuss. They have just refunded me over £1,400 with in four weeks of claiming. [/I]

    Amount Reclaimed: £199 + £28.96 interest
    Amount they paid: £188
    The story:

Settled after the threatening to take them to court letter. Whole process took only 4 weeks. Their letter said they are paying me the money as a gesture of goodwill because they value their relationship with me, not because they feel they are legally obliged.

Who cares though, eh?! I won!! Thanks MoneySavingExpert :T
  • Bank : First Direct
    Claimed : £1030
    Payout : £670

I requested statements a couple of months ago which were sent quickly at no charge.

Requested £1030 ( charges plus interest) on 6th June and received an offer letter from them on 11th June for £670 (refund of charges, but no interest)

Great result and I'm really impressed with First Direct as ever.

Great website. I'm a financial adviser and use it loads and recommend to clients.
  • Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
    Amount Claimed: £2167.18 (including interest)
    Amount offered: £2167.18

Has taken quite a long time since I started the process, nearly 4 months. Threatened court action, but then read on Consumer Action Group website that offer letters are usually sent within 8 weeks of them receiving the claim. My offer letter was received yesterday 10 weeks after their acknowledgement letter (made 2 phone calls to chase this up).
Absolutely amazed when offer was for total amount claimed including interest.
Thought I would have trouble as RBS have not been good at paying out previously and one customer had gone as far as sending the bailiffs in!

Now awaiting offer letter for second claim, due to be received by 28th June.
  • Bank: Barclays
    Amount Reclaimed:£2700 (+600 interest)
    Amount they paid:£2040
The story:Requested statements early March, wrote to Barclays with claim amount on 11th April, wrote again on 16th May threatening court action, received an offer of £2,040 yesterday 13th June and have snapped it up straight away! No point in me haggling or bringing court proceedings and delaying it, i set myself a limit of £1200 i'd be happy with (would pay off the remainder of my holiday to Kenya at the end of this month) but it's paid that plus my brand new sofas!!! Over the moon, thanks Martin :) and good luck to the rest of you..... This time 18 months ago i was almost £10k in debt and have worked my socks off to get rid of it, and the feeling of being free from debt is fab!!! This has been an added bonus!
