Bank: RBS
Amount Reclaimed: £2000
Amount they paid: £2000
I started off the process in early march, with the LBA being sent on 25th March. I had actually mis-calculated and enclosed 6 years worth of charges instead of 5 (we live in Scotland) but only found this out in May when i started my own fight against the BOS, the RBS account was my husbands.
He didn't fancy any court action so we were waiting until 8 weeks were up before we filed a complaint with the FOS. But to our surprise they offered to settle in full on 1st June and the money was in my husband's account within a couple of days.

Bank: Natwest (current account)
Amount claimed: £1037 + about £100 interest
Amount offered: £1037
I sent my first letter on April 21st and second letter two weeks later. Was told on the phone that it would take 8 weeks from April 21st (until June 21st) before I would receive an offer - received a letter today offering the full amount (without interest, but well...). I'm going to send the confirmation form recorded tomorrow and fax it as well.
Good luck to everyone else - I'm going to send off paperwork to the financial ombudsman for two other claims.0 -
Bank: HSBC
Amount Claimed: £625.00
Amount Offered: £616.00
Hi All.
I sent the first letter (as per template) to my bank (HSBC) in March 2007, approx 2 weeks letter I got a letter back from the bank saying that they were looking into the matter.
I heard about 2 months later in May when the bank offered me a settlement which was £9 less than my claim :j which didn't really bother me.
I have now closed my account and moved banks and at present haven't received the settlement offered after sending the form back 3 weeks ago but I'm patiently waiting!!!
This website is fantastic - Thanks so much to Martin and the MSE website - another consumer win over the banks!
It is really worth reclaiming your bank charges - anyone who isn't sure - Just go for it! Good Luck to everyone in the process!
Best Wishes0 -

claimed £1,618.64
paid out£1,618.64
Thankyou Martin and all who have posted advise on his marvellous site because we have just had all of our charges refunded directly back into our account.
We started our claim in feb 07 and the only response we have had from the bank was to acknowledge our claim by letter, back in feb. So we did have to take it as far as the court stage, which we used the moneyclaim online link, from martins site. This did cost us £120 but this was also refunded. They did acknowledge our claim with the court and stated that they would defend all of our claim. this gave them a further 14 days to do something about it, however, after just 6 days of them acknowledging with the court, they had all the charges refunded to us directly into our account. Thanx again Martin, for your great advise. GO FOR IT EVERYONE. ITS YOUR MONEY!0 -
Bank: RBS
Amount reclaimed: £4509.17
Amount paid: £4509.17
The story:
Went through all the processes and was going to turn up in court on Monday 18th June in front of the judge. They sent through the cheque this morning and have asked that I discontinue my claim even though
"my case against them would fail". Hmmmmm.
Thanks to all the HUGELY helpful people on this website who got me through the threatening letters from solicitors, I can now pay off some debts.0 -
bank:HSBC

amount oiffered:413.24
hi everyone im sooooooo happy to be sharing this news with you all.i honestly never thought i would be posting on this thread, as i always thought i was going to be one of the few that was turned down.anyway heres the story:
I started claiming in march, sent my first letter off on the 22nd.
sent 2nd letter 14 days letter, received letter to say they were investigating but ignored it and carried on i started my claim on mcol on 30th april.
hsbc acknowledged and defended on the 28 may a few days before my 28 days were up.
at this stage i started panicking like mad about court.
i received my notice of transfer from the court and really didnt want to end up there, so i phoned dg solicitors last friday and spoke to lovely man who advised me to send a breakdown of my charges as they wont look at your claim till they have received this when it has been taken this far.
i sent it off monday a\nd received this offer today.
im so so happy and want to thank martin, everyone who replied to my posts and everyone else for soothing me when i got worried by posting so i could read them:j :rotfl: :T :money:0 -
