Bank - Natwest.
After succesfully getting £3000 for myself, and £1800 for a friend, yet another friend as been paid out by Natwest.
Amount claimed £1500
Amount offered £1500
Took 2 letters and a phone call!!
Inspired by this site, i also told my mortgage company that i wanted my £600 life insurance money back, as they had threatened to withdraw my mortgage, if i didn't take out their life insurance. That was illegal.
Phone call this morning - offering the full amount back!
Bring on the credit card companies - here i come :money:0 -

IF
Claimed: £2309
Agreed: £2000
Many many thanks to Martin for clearly laying out the process and for everyone elses comments on how they have done.
I've not seen many posts claiming success or failure with IF so I was slightly unsure...
I started the process at the beginning of April, sending my cheque in for £10 requesting a breakdown of all charges or statements for the last 6 years. I received a very useful breakdown on my charges along with my original £10 cheque. They didn't charge for sending these details!
After using the interest calculator I then sent in the letter requesting the charges be paid back at the beginning of May.
No satisfactory response within 14 days (just an acknowledgement that I was not satisifed with their service) so I sent the follow up letter giving them additional time before taking them to court.
I received a response at the beginning of June with an offer for 50% of the claim as a goodwill gesture - heck of a goodwill gesture.
I then phoned them up on Friday last week stating that I was not going to accept it and was asked what I would accept. I stated that I would accept £2000 and was told they would consider it.
This morning I received a revised offer of £2000 which I have accepted.

I have already posted a couple of success stories on Success stories 1 but i will mention them again as i have a new success too.
* GE Money.
Asked for: £90 plus £20.35 interest
They paid: £90
* Halifax credit card
Asked for: £410 plus £85.57 interest
They paid: £205 (wouldn't pay interest and met me half way. I accepted this as OFT siad cards could charge £12 per late fee etc so i though this offer was fair)
* Halifax current accounts x 2 (merged claim)
Asked for: £345.34 plus £501.79 (including interest)
They Paid: £927.13 including £80 small claims cost
All in all i am very happy! :j :j :j :j
I was worried that they would close my account as i have a large student overdraft but they haven't so i am very impressed!
I've read loads of different people's posts throughout my claiming these charges and would just like to say thanks to everyone, especially Martin and the crew. :T
Good luck to everyone!!!!0 -
Bank: HSBC
Claimed: £2,142.78 (inc. Interest)

Sent original letter on 28th March, received offer of above on June 7th so taken a little while, needed a couple of phone calls to get things sorted but dead chuffed with outcome! Thanks! :money:0 -
Bank: Abbbey
Claimed 1378.12 inc interest and court fee of £120.00
offered £896
Date started 23/03/07
Sent all the standard letters recieved all their standard letters back so filed a claim on Money claim online which was served on 15/05/07 which Abbey acknowledged. Recieved a letter yesterday saying that Abbey were intending to defend the claim as "by me claiming back all the charges I am saying that no charges should be levied on the account when overdrawn etc and that obviously can't be right" or words to that effect, anyway as a good will gesture they are prepared to pay me £896.00 .
I have another claim in with them which has also been acknowledged watch this space.0 -
Amount Reclaimed £3023.00
Amount Offered £2552.55!
Requested statements in feb which i recieved along with my £10 cheque saying no charge as i had only requested a list of charges and not statements.
Sent my first letter, recieved a the standard reply from colin langdale about a week later. Sent my second letter, 2 weeks later called them, was told they have 8 weeks blah blah. Another 2 weeks rang again same story. 7 weeks up called again said no reply by end of week am launching claim, lady on phone said she would pass it over for decision that day. 2 days later (today) offer for £2552.55 without prejudice. Thought about going for better offer but hey its 2.5k i thought i would never see. We were booking hols anyway, now we can go 5* instead of 4*.
Going after Natwest & capital one now.
Good look everyone and thanks Martin, youre a top bloke.0 -
Bank: Natwest
Claimed: £3,879.63 (inc. Interest)
Awarded: £3453.00
The first letter was sent on 17th April 2007. Then sent the second letter on 29th May 2007, giving 14 days before court action. Both the 1st & 2nd letters were the templates provided on this site.
I was yesterday, going to start a claim on MCOL but didn't get round to it. Lucky I didn't because I received a letter from Natwest this morning. Hilarious letter telling me how they did not and do not accept my complaint, but were prepared to settle with the figure above. I'm now going to spend the day going through all my old CC statements and claw back more dosh!
Many thanks to all those at moneysavingexpert.com including the very helpful people on the forum! :beer:0 -
