Can now close bank accounts once monies received in 14days and off to A&L.;) Well worth the wait.
:money: Martin ...thanks for all your advice and belief that all things are possible in this wicked world when it comes to money. Following your guide on claiming bank charges has put my husband and I in the clear financially and can now get straight with our monies in future. You're a gem!
For anyone else doing this....don't lose heart...grit your teeth and be brave.

On behalf of my dad ...
Amounts actually paid:
GE Money paid £430
MNBA paid £530
LTBS paid £186
Halifax agreed £5500 today!
Total : £6,646
The story
My mother died suddenly in February this year. My dad asked me to help him look at his financial affairs as mum had done it all.
Mum and dad had been in dire straights (although I'd not known it). Over £10,000 in debt (credit cards, secured loans and council tax), living on pensions income - hand to mouth.
We have restrutured the debt and this will be clear in 3 years time & set dad a realistic budget to live by - and he's doing ok!
Heard about this site from a family member and within 5 months we have:
- paid off the secured loan & gained a refund of £430 for charges
- paid off all the credit cards and obtained refund of charges (see above)
- successfully claimed a whopping £5,500 from Halifax who'd levied chargeson mum and dad's account that crippled them and spiralled them into a viscious circle of borrowing.
Just wish I'd know earlier and helped mum with the burden she'd carried for last 6 years.
God bless mum. x0 -

Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount Reclaimed: £524.33
Amount they paid:£524.33
The story:
First of all I had written to my branch and I did not get a reponse. They sent me an application form for a credit card instead!
Than I used the template from the Consumer Action group and sent the same letter again by recorded delivery to the head office in Edinburgh. 17 days later I got the offer letter and my cheque arrived yesterday:) It was soooo easy! No arguement at all!
I have changed banks since so my RBOS account is now closed.
Thanks for the encouragement Martin! The cheque is going into my savings account to start saving for a deposit for a mortage! Its a start!
Hugs
