Guys,
i was made bankrupt in April 2006 and have been discharged in April this year.
From what date can i reclaim my bank charges? April 2006 or April 2009?
Thanks0 -
Hi,
The bank charged me £295.85 on the 1st of october this year for not having funds in my account to cover three payments of £15 on paypal, and for not having funds to cover two payments for postcode lottery for £10. They automatically took this straight from my wages the day they went in. I contacted my bank and told them they know i have money in my other accounts with them and in my bills account. The manager said i will not get my charges back.
Can they do this? I have 5 children to support and a partner and have totalled up around £4000 in bank charges for the last three years.
Can anyone give me advice on what i should do. Thank you!0 -

Littlewoods success !!!
Sent many letters, recd same response....looking into it, looking into it, looking into it, and then finally we have considered your claim and errrrr No.
Ends up going to small claims where after claim has been deemed Acknowledged as serviced. They then have 28 days to file a defence.
I then receive a cheque out of the blue before the 28 days have expired for all charges plus court fee but no interest.
Glad to bring the matter to a close so will probably agree
Just a word to others with catalogue charges. Perservere and you will get get there. If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -

Bank Alliance & Leicester
Claimed £2,200
PAID £625
CLAIMED UNDER FINANCIAL HARDSHIP
ALLIANCE & LEICESTER ACTUALLY PAID OUT
Wow didn' t expect this as there doesn't seem to be many success stories from this bank in the Forums :j
Originally claimed in June 2009 - Sent three letters in total and today received confirmation they are to pay £625 now and look at the remainder when the test case is settled.
Accepting as didn't expect any offer from them at all.

Bank - HSBC
Amount Claimed - £3325
Amount Paid to Date - £260
Sent off the template letter from this site around 3 weeks ago, received their letter with the financial circumstances form in today.
Completed the form and rang them up to discuss details of my claim under financial hardship. I was made redundant and have since not been on JSA, they have agreed to refund me £260 to make up for me not even applying for JSA?! And then proceeded to tell me I should be claiming benefits I'm entitled to. What I can't understand is how they can agree to part refund me on that basis. Surely if they can refund any amount, this constitutes them acknowledging they are in the wrong and should pay up in full?!
Anyways it's a start, going to keep phoning them every day to try and push for the rest. The girl on the phone went to great lengths to try and assure me that they are expecting a decision from the courts by the end of this month, and that my claim would be settled then? Anyone know if there is any truth to this?
Big thanks to the site and it's contributors for all the information, couldn't have done it without you!0 -
As a precaution to my claiming just over £4000 from the Halifax I proceeded to open a new account with the Alliance & Leicester and the small overdraft started to increase due to financial "hardship" i.e. they were charging me the usual £28 for non payment of direct debits but also then £5 per day that the overdraft had exceeded. I sent a letter requesting that they halt the charges until I was in a better position to catch up (not claiming the charges!) and if they couldn't then I would take it to the Ombudsman! I received a financial statement form and filled it out and 3 weeks later they had refunded all of my charges! £880!
Still waiting for the Halifax, it is still with the Ombudsman. shall inform when a result is reached.0 -
Hi,
Just looking for some advice / info.
I succesfully reclaimed nearly £500 from Barclaycard last year, before the cases were all on hold.
For some reason, I kept putting off my reclaim to HBOS...one of those "i'll get round to it" things.
Anyway, finally sent the first letter away early September with the £10 cheque (from a different account).
The cheque has been cashed, but I haven't heard a thing from them, so HBOS are now over their 40 day deadline to respond to me.
2 questions; Does this deadline still stand given the cases are all on hold?
If so, what do I do now as they havent responded?
Any help / advice greatly appreciated.0
