  • Bank: Smile
    Amount reclaimed: £145
    Amount they paid: £130

Smile charged me £15 service charge plus £80 for the daily amount of lenghth was overdrawn plus £50 for refusing a £10 cheque whilst in the overdraft they put me in! Original amount was £20 that I had gone over mistakenly. I rang smile and spoke to a very ride woman who told me I needed to check my account everyday and was my problem. Copied off Martins 1st letter and posted it off, I was called the next day with an offer to refund all bit the service charge which I didn't have a problem with paying anyway! They refunded within 24hrs. Whilst in the midst of refund they refused a payment of £2.56 to paypal and charged me £25, I got on the phone and it was immediately refunded, so complaining about it works even before the test case as I had really only sent the letter to register my complaint for January.

    lloyds bank
    asked for £540
    got £540
    but..

their letter said 'i can confirm we will pay you in full and final settlement £750...' etc

I got the sum I asked for , but am pushing for the £750 their rubbish staff put in the letter. i am only pushing for it as i have a genuine HATE for lloyds, i had nothing but aggravation off them for years. even had debt collectors on behalf of lloyds phoning my mums neighbours house... whats that about? didnt one attempt to try to get hold of me

anyway, can i claim the difference in what i claimed and their typo?
  • Bank HSBC
    Ammount claimed £3,229.00
    Ammount received £2,816.00

I've claimed my money back for 2 accounts with HSBC. For the first one they gave me the money back promptly. But for the 2nd account, where the biggest chunk was, they seemed to igore it. I forgot about the subject until i received a letter from a debt collection company asking ME to pay them that money! So i've sent the letter threating to go to court and today i've received the reply from HSBC saying that THEY will pay ME that ammount! So cool! I'm going to reclaim for the whole family now! :T
  • Bank: Lloyds
    Amount requested: £240
    Amount received: £265

I used the template letter on this website to ask for my charges to be refunded - Lloyds initially refused so I used the other template 'threatening' court action unless they reconsidered. They wrote back agreeing to refund the charges in full but had added an extra £25 that I hadn't asked for which I can only assume is for interest! They money went straight back into my account. It took absolutely ages to get to that point but was well worth it, thanks Martin.
  • NatWest refunded me almost £5,000 a few weeks ago, after having followed Martin's advice with letters, etc. Needless to say, they disputed my claim which resulted in me having to issue them with a summons but I hung it out and got most of the money back. Thank you Martin - you've been a marvel to people like me (but I bet the banks think otherwise!!!!) :T

    bank: abbey

got statement yesterday and showed £8.10 o/d from 10/12 -no letter or phone call but charged £35 for accepting a cheque + £25 for unauthorised o/d -probably cheaper if they had just bounced the cheque! Rang this morning and with out really any pressure they withdrew charges as no problems before. But I felt sick yesterday when I opened that statement - I am fortunate enough to know about this site and take action, but makes me so cross how many dont and accept it. So keep up the good work spreading the news Martin. Thanks
  • Checked online banking this morning to notice I had £63 worth of charges for going £20 over my overdraft (unauthorised overdraft)

Spoke to a nice lady on the phone who kindly refunded the charges as it was a first offense.

    Thanks all
  • Thanks to this site (martin of course) and the templates I got £4500 smackaroo's back from the RBS - so built on that success I have just sent the letters requesting credit card charges.

I've also sent the PPI letters on monday. In total 6 PPI letters for loans and CC's over the last 6 years. Expecting a fair bit back too. Wasn't very good with money a few years ago but thanks to this site I'm thousands better off already....

I have also just phoned Northern Rock and got my £250 mortgage exit fee back off them too....Nice on Martin.

Will let you know how I get on with CC charges and PPI.....
  • Hi,

Received a letter a couple of weeks ago from Nat West. They were prepared to settle(found this v. strange as court case was looming). Settled my mothers business account for £4000. The claim was for £6300 but I didn't think the amount they offerred was bad.

Thanks for help and information over the past few months!!
