Barclaycard
£754 (inc £80cost +£50 expenses -initiated by the judge!)
I went to court today against Barclaycard, after 1 refused offer. They didn't show and the judge asked if i'd taken time off work to be there, (i hadn't but explained my husband had, so he could look after my son.) The judge calculated the interest to date, as i wasn't worried about what had accrued since putting in the claim. So all in all I won £65 more than i was claiming!!!
(I was also in court with Lloyds TSB, but they've requested a stay, and i only got their letter advising they were going to after returning from the court!!! it was dated 4 days ago!)My Personal challenges for 2012:
Have disposable income
Pay off about £17k debts
- Stop smoking!!!
Leave my past behind and become a new me
*****PLAN PLAN PLAN*****0 -
Amount claimed £1150 including interest
Amount offered £750
I cant quite believe it but Lloyds TSB have sent me a letter offering me £750 as full and final settlement for my claim which is to be paid into my account within 10 days. Should I send leter saying I accept without prejudice your offer etc...
I hadnt got as far as issuing court proceedings against them but had followed all Martins advice up to that point, I was deciding on the court V ombudsman option when the stay was announced and thought that was more or less the end of it but apparently it wasnt!!.
The trouble is since I originally wrote to Lloyds I have incurred another £350 charges and want to know should I push my luck and send a letter asking for these back too ???
Anyone still waiting for their money just hang on in there I think everyoe will get paid something from the big bad wolf
regards

Just a quickie to say thanks for all the inspiration to do this!

£80 Barclaycard and Capital One have offered £230 although I requested £600 so i shall call them and see if i can get a little more!

Another victory
And this one without even entering court proceedings.
In May I sent MBNA (Alliance & Leicester credit card) a claim for £390, which included £90 of interest. On the 28th June I receved a leter with the usual blah blah blah goodwill payment of £180. I wrote back and said I would accept this as part payment and if they did not refund full amount I would proceed with court action. I heard nothing and was going to enter MCOL this week. Today I got a letter offering me a further £288 goodwill payment which in total is £468, £90 more than I was claiming in the first place. Wont see any of it as I still owe them some omeny but at least it has reduced the debt and will reduce my interest charges.

Thank you Martin, does not begin to cover my gratitude.
My partner and I have just received cheques from HSBC totaling: £1300.
All just from sending just 2 letters and waiting just over 3 months.
I emplore anyone who has not looked into claiming back charges, to do so straight away.
Thanks so much Martin! :T0 -
Reclaiming £1013.09 - started February
Received £750.00 - paid into the bank August
Started end of February with the first letter requesting the list of charges for husband.
Last two letters never got a reply to - know they received them as was doing a refund request for my son as well posted in the same envelope - son got more back than he was claiming for!!.
Just got a letter with a full and final settlement of £750 for my husband. He is accepting and won't continue to claim the rest now - wants to leave it at that. He feels that as he handled his bank account attrociously he deserves some sort of charges.
Will send them a letter stating acceptable as part payment pending the results of the court case as short of breaking the OHs arm he won't sign another letter for it except the one Im doing now. Will expect the rest back when we win.
Thanks to everyone for their support over the past few months.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.:eek:0 -
Bank: Nationwide
Amount Reclaimed: £421
Amount Paid: £666.39
Wrote first letter to Nationwide branch on 17 February asking for £421 charges to be reimbursed enclosing breakdown of charges. Did not receive a reply, so wrote again to branch on 9 March expressing disappointment no reply had been received etc. Still did not receive a reply so wrote to Member Service in Northampton on 23 March asking for a reply within 7 days. Received 2 standard letters dated 23 and 31 March explaining their charging policy and stating that they could not refund charges as it would be unfair to other customers in similar circumances - they also enclosed a leaflet about their internal complaints procedure and financial ombudsman. Wrote again on 5 April saying that if I did not hear favourably within 7 days I would take the matter to the small claims court. Received 2 more identical letters from Nationwide as above dated 13 April and 16 April explaining their charging policy and stating that they could not refund charges as it would be unfair to other customers in similar circumances - they also enclosed more leaflets about their internal complaints procedure and financial ombudsman.
Filed a claim with MCOL on 24 April for £550 (£420 + Interest of £80 + £50 costs). Nationwide acknowledged the claim on 30 April stating they were going to defend the claim.
Nationwide waited until the 11th hour and then paid £666.39 into the account on 23 May, stating this was £500 charges in full settlement including £116.39 court fee and interest.
They did not close the account, but warned that if we went overdrawn again they would do so. We are currently still banking with Nationwide.
Thank you moneysaving expert for your moral support, which encouraged us to pursue our claim.0 -

My wife and I have recently got married so finances have been tight and these charges almost runined the biggest day of our lives. Time now to go on a belated honeymoon courtesy of the Halifax!!!!
Thanks to everyone who has ever posted on these forums. Without your help, advise and own experiences I would never have had the nerve to follow this through to its conclusion.
To those of you who are still in the system. The banks are running scared and if you ever find yourself doubting to continue, read some others experiences and you'll find the energy and passion to go on.
