Bank: Natwest
Amount Reclaimed: £205
Amount they paid: £144.75
The story:
Sent a letter to Natwest 2 weeks ago asking for my Credit Card charges back. They sent me a letter within 7 days saying they were looking into it. A week later they sent me a letter with an offer. They had listed ALL the charges for 6 years, there were ones that I'd missed. What they did was charge me a flat £12 for every late fee then refunded me the rest. Can't argue with that and it only took 1 letter :rotfl:0 -
Bank: BARCLAYS
Amount: 2750.50 owed in charges
Amount won: 3944.77 (inc. interest an dcourt cost of 120)
Method: attended court today as barclays refused to settle
Story: 1st letter sent nov 21 06. after 2nd letter offered 1000. Refused. barclays ignored me and so took to small claim court in feb. hearing was today. v. nervous - emailed litigation to see if they'd settle. they responded T HIS MORNING and said no, they'd be attending and applying for a stay in light of OFT court case.
Attending lawyer didn't have details of OFT case and couldn't substatiate that what it was about - judge said 'lets proceed'. There were 3 cases and he had all claimants in same room. Asked each what they thought. The lawyer then obviously paniced and asked for adjounment. She spoke again to each of us separately and appeared to 'call the office for approval'. They offered full a mount plus interest. had to sign a letter. WAHEY!!!!!0 -

Natwest personal account:

Offered to pay in full but took the full time scale to reply.
By this time i had been charged another £76 so i wrote saying further to our telephone conversation (WHICH WE NEVER HAD), i understand you will refund the other charges also, totalling £304. PAID IT STRAIGHT INTO BANK HA HA
Natwest wifes account exactly same, offered £252, paid £346.
Capital one, Different again, I asked for £308 back, they offered to refund the difference between the £20 and £12 charge. They Paid £112 into my account , goodwill etc. Wrote sying i would only accept it as part payment. Letter back from them saying not paying any more, their final response. Launched MCOL the same day to include interest and £50 court fees Giving a total of £399. Went on holiday for 2 weeks the next day, came home, PAID IN FULL, TO AVOID WASTING COURTS TIME. HOW THOUGHTFULL THEY ARE.

Bank: Nationwide
Amount Reclaimed: £1,263.16
Amount they paid: £1,270.93
The story: :j
Started back in May 07. Followed all procedures, replied and processed court action without delay and as expected they were putting their foot down to the last minute, i.e. entered their defence when I was just about taking them to court. I then received the news that all cases would be put on hold until most likely end of this year. The very next day I received a letter from Nationwide saying that the money has been paid into my account afterall.....yippee! This included the charges, court costs of £120 and a further £281.94 for interest at 8%. This is better then I expected. MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS, DON'T GIVE UP AND DON'T FEEL PUT DOWN BY THE BANKS BULLYING MANNERS....YOU'LL WIN IN THE END. :rotfl:Cloggy0 -
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share my good news with everyone and thank everyone for their invaluable support and advice.
The story goes like this:
March 2007 - sent for list of charges
May 2007 - list of charges arrive, totalling £1906, send 1st letter asking for refund. Within days i receive a letter declining my request. I pluck up the courage to ask for my claim to be escalated following the advice on this site.
July 20th 2007 - receive a letter with an offer of £274. I very nervously ring them, again after reading messages of success on here. Within minutes it was agreed for a settlement of £75% = £1429.50. I have today received a cheque for this amount.
I am absolutely delighted with this outcome, i feel that the other 25% is sufficient payment to the bank for the bounced d/ds etc.
Again i would like to extend my thanks to Martin, edinburghlass and many other members who have given me the confidence to carry this through.
P.S. My husband and I are due to go to court on 16th August against LTSB - i will let you know the outcome.
Regards

They paid extra.... we didn't ask the Judge awarded it for interest occured from Jan to Aug
Went to court today the barrister was there for Barclays, they tried to postpone due to Other case, although the Judge asked them on what grounds and to explain, at what time they had no answers for him.

Bank: LloydsTSB
Amount Reclaimed: £327
Amount they paid £421
I originally wrote to Lloyds TSB back at the start of April after downloading bank statements off my online account, but go no reply. I wrote them a second letter which they replied to saying they wasn't paying and they thought there charges where fair. I wrote back informing them i wasn't happy and if they didn'y pay i was taking them to court.
By the time they should have responded they hadn't, but unfortunately i was unable to afford the £50 fee to take them to court and i just kind of left it.
So i was most surprised when i got home on Saturday (about 14 weeks from my last letter) to find a letter from Lloyds TSB saying thank for my last letter to them, they were sorry i hadn't been happy with their original response, they stood by there grounds that they thought charges was fair, but on this occasion they were willing to pay be a "goodwill refund" of £421, which was more than i'd originally asked for.
Money was in my bank Monday lunchtime, so i'm very happy.
