    Hi all,

worreid about the new OFT thing i almost dissmissed the possibility of seeing any cash tback this year.

turns out my old landlady whos been away had a letter for me from them offering £1525 of £1700 odd of banks charges/referrals etc-

so have accepted the offer; it was with Natwest and they wrote on the 3rd of August- not sure when the OFT thing started but it looks like they had made the first offer a few weeks before.

So a thousand thankyous to Martin, the MSE forum members and my family (who pushed me to do this having been exposed to the possibitly by martins publicity)

i'm made up, and as i ahven't had a charge in nearly a year now feel much better about my relationship with my bank.

Claimed for both my son and daughter.
Son got the whole amount claimed £280.00 about a month ago. But daughter never hear anything till today. It appears an offer had been sent, at the same time as my sons ,but the letter wasnt received by us. Todays letter states the offer of £2297.25 is open for her to take any time in the next two months. Its not quite the full amount we asked for but she has decided to accept.
No courts or financial ombudsman involved.
Thanks for all the help :j

    BANK: NATWEST
    AMOUNT CLAIMED: £6512.36 (£5484.84 + £657.51 interest)
    AMOUNT OFFERED: £5484.84
    AMOUNT ACCEPTED & RECEIVED: £5484.84

    Hi everyone!

16th March - 1st letter sent for past statements
11th May - sent letter outlining charges
21st July - offer letter received
13th August - money in account!

It's all been a bit of a saga, mainly caused by the OFT test case announcement. BUT, I got the bit between my teeth, spent a lot of time on the phone and thanks to some very useful information in reply to my posts on the OFT Test Case Announcement thread, I got my money!

Many thanks to Martin for inspiring me to do this and everyone else for their invaluable help and information.

    Bank: Natwest
    Amount Reclaimed: £3000
    Amount they paid: £3000

    The story:
Followed Martin's advice to the letter.

Sent first letter, didnt hear anything so sent another offering to accept £1500 (half the amount). Received letter 2 days later stating that they were looking into my case and they estimated that it would take 6 - 7 to reply.

Exactly 7 weeks later received letter stating that they refuted my claims that the charges were lawful and they admitted no liability but as a "goodwill gesture" they would pay the full amount by BACS transfer into my account. Letter arrived on the Wed, sent back on that day and the money was in my account by the Friday.

    My advice to anyone is stick rigidly to Martin's advice, use letter templates, do not add/delete anything even if tempted and do not give up.:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
  • Halifax bank charges
    Current: £2084 (w/o interest) Received: £1496
    Solo: £355 (w/o/ interest) Received: £324
    Barclaycard: £295 (w/o interest) Received £250
    Halifax credit cards
Acc 1: claimed: £1166 (with interest) Outstanding
Acc 2: still waiting for statements (Halifax stalling tactics!!)
MBNA: £722 (with interest) Still outstanding

many thanks to everyone on this site - and an especially big thank you for Martin, without whom this wouldn't have been possible.

Dealing with the "big boys" has given me the confidence to take my own "consumer revenge" against 3, British Gas, my insurance company, and (again) the Halifax for ruining my holiday last year.....but that's another story!

    Keep up the good work.
  • I was formally Radio 01 but for some reason I coul'nt get into the site so had to star again with new name etc as I was so excited to tell my news.
    BANK. Lloyds TSB
    AMOUNT. 490
    AMOUNT RECIEVED. 490
I started claiming on my own but chickened out and went through the FO. they sent me a letter a couple of weeks ago saying that even though Lloyds had had the 8 weeks to send thier final answer they hadnt done so yet. The FO told them to send me thier final answer within 14 days , which they did. They offered me the full amount I had claimed on behalf of my son and said it would be in his bank acc within 10 days.I arrived 4 days later and when they had taken thier 200 for the overdraft it left 290 for him to withdraw and pay other debt's.He closed the acc at the same time in writting.Hooray.I would like to say a very big thankyou to everyone on here who helped me to do it in the first place and also for all the help and advice on the way.We really thought we had had it when the news came out about the court case and that we would have to wait at least a year to start it up again. We were most shocked to get the letter and I ran up and down the hall shouting YES YES YES.many thanks to everyone.xxxxx

    Hi

Just to keep you updated - I have finally received my offer from Royal Bank of Scotland!

    Claimed: £2239.00 (without interest)
Offered: £1847.00 (not sure where they got this figure from!)

Will be accepting the offer even though they paid out the full amount on another claim 2 months ago...however due to recent goings on, thought it would be best to take the money & run - will look into claiming the rest (£392) @ end of test case.

Thanks to everyone's support on this forum...couldnt have done it without you
  • Bank; HSBC
    Amount claimed: £5522.22
    Amount won: £6089.04

First wrote to the bank in February 2007  , got the usual brush off threatening letter. Read others posts and stuck to my guns wrote again in march and was offered £3500 with the bank stating that they believed they would successfully resist any legal challenge in relation to the fees - i declined! Went to the small claims court. Eventually, after my account had been closed (and my joint account) and i had received demands from MCS to repay my overdrafts (which luckily i was able to do) I was eventually offered £6089.04, three days before case assement session with local judge, which I happily accepted:rotfl: . Was sent a cheque as i no longer had an account they could pay it into! The final amount included charges that had accrued between March and June.

A big thank you to Martin :money: and everyone else who has posted. Everything was of great help and i cannot thank you enough for sharing all your experiences:beer: .
