    Nat West
    £1237
    offered £1032

Started in late May - got letter on 4th June saying it would take 8 weeks. Got offer today 27th July- Thanks Martin. Cheers NAt West - a bit slow but worth it in the end!
  • Bank: Abbey
    Amount Claimed: £2015
    Amount paid back: £2010

My process began in April, and got all the way to me serving court papers via MCOL. Abbey spent 8 weeks 'dealing' with the complaint, and then suggested I go to the Ombudsman, while paying a 'gesture of goodwill' of £260 into my account.

Sticking to my own timelines, I didn't respond to this, and I pursued the matter via the court process.

Abbey did the usual 'we intend to defend all elements of the claim', and then submitted their defence, along with a offer to settle of £1309. I declined this, and offered to settle for £1800 plus the £120 court costs. Abbey came back with £1750.

I accepted this, upon realising that £1750, plus the £260, gave me just £5 short of my original claim. This, added to the £120 court fee, the £10 fee for getting my statements, and postage costs, meant that I had to pay about £140 to get £2k back.

Maybe today's not the best day to post this, but I just want to say thanks to Martin and EVERYONE else on this site for the guidance, and advice over the last 3 months or so. I probably wouldn't have had the bottle otherwise.

Here's hoping the courts rule in favour of the consumer.

  • Halfax > £960 :rotfl:

I didn't beleive it as you do, until the money was in my account, followed all the steps, had a reply ("NO see T&C'S"!) but persistence prevailed, when court procedings issued they folded, first offering half, then a couple of days later the full shibang! charges + interest 8% + court fee, all it cost me was a few quid postage - NEXT - WATCH OUT RBS - this small fish bites back!!!

Martin... Thank you !:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

22/07/2007 - I then received notice by post of this from the court and to be honest got a bit worried about how I was going to defend it even though everyone said it won’t get that far there’s still that nagging doubt in the back of your mind…!<o></o>

Got home yesterday to find a letter stamped ‘<st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Halifax</st1></st1:city>’ – thought ‘here we go!’ <o></o>

:A Thanks to this site that has given me the confidence to go forward with all my claims.
    The story so far is:
    LLoyds Tsb £319 charges.
Took from the 07/03/07 and by far the most difficult. After Fob off letters and tantrums with Andover who never answer the phone I passed my case over to the FOS who within 3 weeks got me my offer without interest on the 19/07/07.The FOS were helpful indeed.Lloyds were impossible with me!

    RBS Joint Account £729 charges.
Started claim on 19/05/07 and very helpful. Got an offer in post yesterday for the full amount and was told to add end accrued during the 8 weeks on bottom of letter so they could hopefully return these too.Very impressed!

    Still Ongoing!
RBS sole account for £1402 and RBS sole account now closed for £1555. One was due to be reviewed on 08/08/07 and other on 19/09/07 but I'm a bit worried with the new announcement from the FSA as all work on these cases suspended from now. Any advice would be gratefully received!!

I started the procedure for my son and husband in February. My son became unemployed a month ago.

He (MY SON) has today received a letter from Lloyds saying they will pay him an amount in full and final settlement etc of £420 (its actually about £60 more than what he had requested). It will be in his bank in the next '10 working days'. Will let you know if it arrives. Well done me.

Just told my husband who is a bit peeved. I did the same letters for each of them and posted them off at the same time for each of them and my son got a reply to each of his letters.

My husband has not had a reply to the last two. I will still continue the process with my husband's claim anyway, as it is for over £1,300 which might be the sticking point - even though the major court case is going on. We are going to go the Ombudsman route first.
I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.

Wrote first letter on 1 June 2007, wrote second letter 21 June 2007, submitted a claim with MCOL 13 July 2007, didn't even get a court date but was hugely surprised to receive a full offer, including court costs, this morning 27 July 2007.
