:j My daughter and I have just been notified by HSBC that we are being refunded our bank charges. I asked for £1,346 and have been granted £1,148 and daughter asked for £1,591 and will get £1,496. Success at last. We started our negotations in May so HSBC have been pretty quick. It only took a threat in June to commence court proceedings. Thank you Martin, for your help! :T

    Bank HSBC
    Amount claimed £2000
    Amount Recieved £1500

No need to register online claims, offred to all charges excluding interest - snatched their hands off. My account was closed, so they sent me a cheque for the amount. This is 6 years worth of charges I have got back.

I can't belive I got it, I'm on a DMA with the CCCS and owe HSBC about £15000 on a personal loan.

    Bank: Barclaycard
    Claim: £1052.00
    Received: £392.00

    12/07/07: Sent 1st letter asking for £1052.00
18/07/07: Received a reply offering £392.00 credited to the account.

Accepting offer as this is the difference between the old charges of £20.00 & new charges of £12.00 as per OFT ruling.

Barclaycard were as you can see, very fast & easy to deal with - would have loved to have got the full amount off them, but knew I had no chance, but still very happy, £392.00 better off thanks to Martin...Cheers:money:
  • :jJust discovered natwest is going to refund me £1246 which is what I asked for minus the intrest. But did include the fee for advantage gold. Took several attempts to get them to forward my statements and charged £5. Never had any replies from letters I sent. Got as far as giving them 14 days to reply or I would begin court proceedings. 8 days later they have offered to pay me the full amount less the intrest. Took around 5 months from first applying for my statements to being offered.
    :Txxxxxxxx thanks Martin xxxxxxxx :A

I'm going to have a go at the mortgage charges now.
  • I claimed back charges from Northern Bank £9,250 yippeee
  • Bank: Woolwich
    Amount claimed: £3100
    Amount received: £2400

Sent out initial letter asking for bank statements. Was sent a printout of charges and very nice letter within the designated time.

Wrote to them with details of what I wanted to claim. Letter received almost immediately to say they were looking into it and would respond by 5th July. Bank account subsequently moved to Barclays so feared the worst but offer was received on 3rd July.

Decided to accept it as we have a business account with Barclays and didn't want to give ourselves any further problems. Also, I felt the offer was fair and that the amount we have now actually paid for bank charges was acceptable.

Now to get my teeth into Natwest!

Thanks to this fantastic website for all the advice
