    Amount they paid: £246
The story: Wrote to Marbles for list of charges on 4th June, got them dead quick, sent 1st request letter on 9th July, got standard NO letter, send letter 2 on 16th July, got letter offering me £125 on 19th July, phoned number on letter to say that wasn't going to accept, James told me on the phone they'd have another look at it and I should recieved a new offer in a few days. Got offer letter 24th July offering me £246. Called them to say i'd accept.

Must say that so far marbles have been the best to deal with, straight forward and no hastle.

    Keep going at it!!!!!!!!
  • Natwest

    Asked for £1358 + interest of £254.54
    Received: £1358!!

I got this offer within a few weeks of my first letter. No need to go to the courts or anything.

I've got another account which I'm claiming £744 + £121 interest, and should get a reply to that this week. Very pleased. Not too worried about the interest, just thought it was worth pushing my luck.

    Thanks guys!!
  • Capital One

    Amount Claimed:£1450
Amount awarded: £570 (difference between charges and £12)

Offered without resorting to going to court, countered with request for interest - they insisted was goodwill offer and was final - so rather than start court process I accepted. Money credited to account quickly - now waiting for cheque to transfer to current account!:T

Not so fortunate with Halifax - started court process - just received letter to say they will defend! I shall battle on!

    Good luck everyone!
  • I phoned hsbc requesting 6 years charges details and they told me to write in - which I did. They sent me reams of paperwork which I went through and made a note of charges.I used Martin's calculator tool which I downloaded and the upshot was that they owed me 1700 inc. interest and they offered me 1200 which I accepted.Thank you Martin for making it so easy.It is all there in black and white on your site ( poet who did'nt know it lol )I could have pushed for more but I did not want to push my luck.
    Thanks again sweetie xx:money: :T
  • Bank: Bank of Scotland
    Amount Reclaimed: £701
    Amount they paid: £535.50
The story: I claimed 6 years of charges by accident (only allowed 5 in Scotland) but this was never mentioned so I was happy to settle for 75%.:o

Recieved an offer of £357 to settle so phoned the number on the letter and declined the offer. The person on the phone was very nice and advised me the very best they could do was £535.50. I accepted as this was more than my 6 years of charges not including interest.

Delighted to get this money back, cant thank this site enough as I followed the templates to the letter. If you are thinking about doing this... what are you waiting for!!!

Wow... i cant believe it was all so easy, and the guy on the phone was really pleasant and not pushy or agressive and started laughing when i said i hoped he had a really nice day. Woohoo thanks for all the advice on this site it gave me the motivation to push on....

    Bank: Lloyds Bank
    Amount Claimed: £999.84
    Amount they Paid: £1082.03

I started this process in June and after receiving a letter from the bank stating they will not pay, I started court proceedings online, which they acknowledged within the 14 day deadline, however received a letter a few days later from the bank'sr solicitors. Though they do not accept liability they have agreed to pay the full amount including the £80 court fees.

    Superb result.
  • Bank: Abbey
    Amount Reclaimed: £2486

    Amount they paid: £2309.50
    The story:

Started the ball rolling in Feb 07, Abbey said no to start with, so I threatened court action (using the template letter). Abbey offered and paid me £130, I said thank you but I still want the rest, Abbey said no again.

I wrote to the Ombudsman in June and had the offer from Abbey today of all but £46.50 - a fantastic result I think.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MARTIN - THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO US. xxxxx
