Amazing yes! Nationwide were tougher. Had to threaten Court but they soon coughed up before it went to court no problem.

I LOVE Nat West who paid me the full amount on my 2nd letter but as I sent my 2nd letter twice (1 two weeks after the first) they paid me twice. 2 lots of £700

Thank You Nat West you are lovely!
  • Hi all, been using the site for a while, but i decided to try a different method to get my charges back, with help and advice from my legal team at work i drafted up some letter (at the same time i applied for a HSBC mortgage)

The first letter was a list of charges and a request for a full payment of £750, i received the usual response, about their investigations. So i stuck the the 14 days and wrote a second letter reiterating that i wanted to solve this without the courts and requesting a progress report on the investigation. I also enclosed a copy of their own leaflet with the highlight section about their own personal time scales and that they were legally obliguied to send me a letter with some sort of conclusion. They did not answer.

The legal team at work suggested i wait the 8 weeks, which i did, so i went on holiday for two weeks and when i got home i had received a letter offering me £700, and acknowledgement that no admission liablity. i prompyly signed the letter and sent it back with a letter saying thank you.

I was dealing with the Service Quality Team Manager Directly (thats who i addressed everything to)

  • Bank : Royal Bank of Scotland
    Amt claimed £2300 and £1975
    awarded: £2100 and £1975

All in all this took around 8 weeks but really easy to do. I requested my statements which I got free of charge, spent a day listing all the charges and sent it off to my own branch. I got a letter back from the department which now deals with these, I've put the address below, and from then on only dealt with them.
I have two accounts with Rbs, one personal and one business and as you can see I got both amounts back. I couldnt be more chuffed. I thought it was money lost so thanks for all the help you gave on the website.
Ps. I claimed all my unpaid fees and referral fees. :j

  • Bank: Natwest
    Amount claimed: £895.53
    Amount paid: £895.53

Started the process in May after seeing Martin on TV, i used the letter templates on this site, sent the initial letter with the £10 fee, recieved bank statements and then wrote requesting payment. I recieved a letter from them infrming me they were going to investigate the claim and would reply in 6-7 weeks. This they did and as a gesture of good will and without admission of liability or error agreeded to pay the full amount. I recieved the cheque within 7 days.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin and all invovled:T

    Bank: Alliance & Leicester
    Claiming: 2400 approx w/o interest
    Received: £1900

Some may think this was a bit low, but I had a court date for October which i couldn't be bothered to wait for.

Initial offer from Wragge&Co (Solicitors) was about £400.
I offered to settle for £2300.
    They offered £1100
    I said this wasn't enough
    They came back with £1623
I asked what the chap's top line was that he'd been given by A&L and he said about £1800 so I asked for £1900.
I said i wanted it ASAP and he said that he couldn't promise anything and would try for 3 working days, but may take 5.

It is two days after that conversation and the funds are in my account.

Being nice to the guys at Wragge helps, they are just regular people stuck in the middle.

Good luck to all and thanks to everyone who helped me.

    Si

  • Bank: Halifax
    Amount reclaimed:£1518.04.
    Offered to settle for £1100.00
Amount they have offered: Just less than £700
The story: I have decided to accept the amount offered. I have spent a great deal of time on this owing to the length of time between my letters and their replies and I've decided to call it a day. I am pleased to have been offered an amount of money even if it is less than half the amount claimed. My heartfelt thanks to Martin Lewis - it would never have occurred to me to do this if it hadn't been for his advice.:j
