Bank: Nationwide
Reclaimed: £6317.57 including MCOL £250
Paid: £5500:T
Having read all the sucesses on this wonderful site, I started the process in April. I got no response, so sent letter threatning court. Again got no response, so followed up with a phone call, which was very frustrating:mad: , as I was given lots of wrong numbers. Eventually spoke to someone who informed me that they had recieved no mail from me. Again sent, this time by recorded delivery. I then went into hospital, and on discharge got the standard fob off letter, as not feeling my best anyway, I just wanted to cry. I then proceeded with MCOL, I waited and waited. Nationwide did not acknowledge, so I placed the judgement for immediate payment. Still nothing, I must of checked my account a hundred times. Got on the phone the following day, and again found it difficult to get to the right person, but was finally given a number for a Mr Bacon. He knew nothing of my claim and couldnt find anything, very worrying. He asked for a week to sort things out, and I oblidged, more than Nationwide ever did for me. Anyway yesterday checked my account to find various amount had been put into my account. I know it may sound greedy, but I was a little peeved that I didnt get all the money back, and sort of feel that I have lost the court cost. Anyway as the WONDERFUL MARTIN, says,:money: "not to look at it as losing money, but more about getting the money back that you thought had been gone forever".
Planning a spending spree: Barbados in September, in the process of replacing garden fence and patio. Having an appointment tomorrow for laser eye surgery, also going to replace my combi-boiler before winter, and also will be paying of credit card. Very very happy days. And to top it off, I still have another month off work following surgery.:beer:0 -
Amount claimed £10,600
Amount received £7,160
What a shock. We received a letter from Nat West saying because of the amount of people claiming there was a backlog and could we wait 6 weeks before we took it any further. I had only sent the letter claiming charges. The day of our hols 12th July letter received offering £7,160. I thought what Martin always says don't look at how much you haven't got just think if the amount offered can help. 2 days later it was in the bank.
Thanks a lot Martin and your army of helpers.
I am now up to Court proceedings in our joint account which is £6,500 but feeling a lot more confident.

Bank: Lloyds TSB

Amount they paid: £1667
The story: I started off all the process on 18th Jan and ended up going through MCOL and got as far as awaiting a court date. They sent out a letter saying they wanted to review my account before procedding and the following day they sent the settlement letter so needless to say I agreed.
I got £100 more than i asked for so result there. It was paid into my account within 3 days of me sending the letter back accepting.
Thank you so much Martin and mse as I have now cleared my debts with the money and can sleep at night. Never give up-I wanted to throw the towel in many times but reading stories on here made me keep it up. :j:rotfl:

Good news peeps!!!!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bank: RBS
Amount Claimed: £4944 and £2516 (2 accounts)
Amount refunded: £4944 and £2516

My wife went to the bank at dinner and there were no refunded charges there. She has just checked online and they've paid up!!!!! Right, here is the story and timeline of the process.

1. Requested 6 years statements for 3 accounts on 26th April 2007 using templates on this site. Request taken to local branch who forwarded it to head office.
2. Received 2 accounts statements beginning of May.
3. Added charges up and to our horror found that we were asking for £4944 and £2516 (£7460 total)
4. Took letter (template form here again) dated 21st May 2007 asking for money back to local branch who, again, forwarded it.
5. Received standard letter dated 23rd May 2007 saying they were looking into it all and would need 6-7 weeks to complete work involved. After reading posts on RBS thread, thought we would allow them the time they wanted.
6. Phoned Customer Relations (0800 0155 035 freephone number for more money saving) on 14th June for update and the lady told me they were offering full amounts but letter would be with us before 19th July.
7. On Monday 16th July received letters for both accounts for full amounts. Letters were signed and sent Special Delivery that day to the address they stated.
8. Checked online banking on Wednesday 18th July at 2110 and money was there.

It has taken RBS 8 weeks to the day since they received our letters asking for money back to do their stuff and pay us back. I would like to stress as others including Edinburghlass have said that given the time to sort it out rather than threatening court and they come up the right offer. And they have dealt with my claims most professionally. The only blot on their copybook is that we are still waiting for the third set of statements. £7.5k will keep us going for a bit though.
To anyone thinking of claiming I would say go for it, and anyone mid claim with RBS, be patient. Good luck all and thank you Martin and all on MSE for support and words of wisdom.0 -

Building Society: Nationwide
Amount claimed : £1,040
Amount Paid £1,069.20
I wrote to Nationwide after hearing your tips on Jeremy Vine's show. They told me in no uncertain terms that they would not pay out irrespective of the "media hype" and lectured me about running my account in accordance with their rules and suggested that I take my business elsewhere. I complained to the ombudsman who wrote to them to launch a formal invetsigation. Two weeks later the ombudsman wrote back saying that although they accepted no liability, they would pay the full claim to avoid the work that the investigation would involve. I would have given up if it wasn't for your advice on Radio 2. :j Although initially sceptical about contacting the ombudsman, they couldn't have been more helpful keeping me informed at all stages and telling me how long each stage would take.0 -
