Bank: Trustee Savings Bank
Amount owed: £30
Amount reclaimed: £30
I recently made 3 purchases with a debit card. I accidentally used the wrong debit card, which was for an account with about £5 in it, and went overdrawn. Recieved a letter and a phone call from the bank about it and went in to transfer some funds. The personal banking manager there actually suggested to me that I should phone their switchboard and speak to someone about reclaiming the charges. I did so the next day and after a couple of transfers they refunded the full amount 'as a gesture of goodwill'. Probably helped that I'm actually a good customer anyway but I was still surprised to hear the manager advising me to reclaim the charge. TSB now have an option on their automated switchboard for claiming charges. :rotfl:0 -
At last we have got our money from hsbc it has taken from sending the claim letter a very long time the first letter asking for charges was 4th of april and we finally got a cheque this morning .
Asked for £478
Received £478
Still waiting for a business account claim for charges back from hsbc and its getting very annoying so maybe we will take that one to court .
Thanks everyone for support :beer:0 -

Bank - NatWest.
Amount claimed - £844.05
Amount paid - £806.00.
In december 2006 i registered with a company called "Robertson Holbrook", a company who offered to reclaim bank charges on "my" behalf on a no win, no fee basis. After 2 months with no contact, i rang them to see what progress was being made, my details were taken, with a promise of a return phone call, this never happened, a further phone call later, i was informed that my bank (Natwest) would not forward my bank statements to them and i might have better luck if i tried myself. By this time it was May and i was not a happy bunny. After hearing Martin on the radio, i looked up this site, read all the information and decided to try myself.
My first phone call was to ask for my bank statements, these arrived within 4 days, i calculated the charges owed, and with the use of the pre written, downloadable letter on this site, sent off my first letter, this was promptly ignored. After waiting the recommended 2 weeks, i printed off the 2nd letter, threatining court action, sending it via recorded post, this seemed to have the desired effect, i received a letter saying my claim had been received and a response would be forthcoming within 8 weeks.
After 7 weeks, i made a 2nd phone call to find out if any progress had been made and was told that a settlement offer had been sent out in the post, i recieved this last saturday and was very pleased with the outcome, i claimed £844.05 and was offered £806.00, a great result, they even paid me 2 charges of £38.00 that had already been refunded. The moral of this story... do not use middle men, in my case it was 5 months of wasted time, if i can do it, anyone can. Best of luck, Dez.0 -
After winning my full ammount with my halifax bank accounts after a threat to take to court decided to try for my credit cards wrote to 4 capital one only ones to reply yet. After sending breakdown and demand letter claimed for £630 14 days later have paid £220 into my credit card account. Claiming they will only pay difference between £12 they charge now and the Unfair ammounts charged in the past. 2nd victory for me. THRILLED once again thanks Martin!!!!!!!:T0

Bank: Lloyds TSB
Amount Reclaimed: £1,310
Amount they paid: £1,310
The story: i wrote a post months ago saying that First Direct had paid out instantly but that Lloyds wanted to fight. What with all the press with Lloyds i wasn't very hopeful...but...2 weeks before it was due to be heard in court they settled.

Bank: Nationwide
Amount Claimed: £4225.52
Amount Received: £4225.52
I followed all the advice you gave and despite the Bank ringing up and getting nasty with us, we held our nerve and the day before we could apply for judgement against them, they sent us a letter telling us the money was in our account. Unfortunately the account had been removed from our internet banking facility so we couldn't access it, but they soon sorted it out when I threatened them with the Ombudsman.
Thanks Martin, you're great.0 -
