Success claimed £3500, HALIFAX offered and accepted £2004,
Started claim in March, threatened to take claim to small claims court, did not get that far,:j0 -
Thanks so much to you all, success with Nationwide, I had to take them to court, but they caved in just days before the case was due. Won £675 + costs + interest. They followed it with a letter saying 'we suggest you change banks as we cannot guarantee free banking' Everyone - have a go, its scary, but you can win! Hazeleyes

Bank: Barclays Bank
Amount claimed: £2585.85
Amount recieved: £2585.85
This has not been easy but without this website and forums i would not have claimed.Initailly followed template letters and recieved a letter from the bank offering £1400.00 without them sending me my statements as i had requested. This i refused and sent another request (as on template) for statements. When this did arrive 6 weeks later i used the interest calculator and sent them template letter requesting £2585.85.They wrote back refusing to pay this ammount.I then wrote to the financial ombundsmen with all correspondence that i had had with the bank. This morning in the post is a letter offering me £2585.00.
Please if you have any charges then go for it.My husband and I are over the moon.It feels like a weight has been lifted we only got into trouble when the banks started to charge us £90 - £120.00 a month for as little as £2.00 in the red.
To everyone out there and martin and his team thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your bank charges stories. They are inspirational.

CLAIMED: £2165
RECEIVED: £1900 :rotfl:
Started process on 28th June, sent letter claiming £2165 on 15th July, received Without Prejudice today (18th) for £1900!!!
I'm shocked at how quick they were, no need to threaten court action at all (although I was geared up for a good fight! lol).
I kinda expected them to close the account as well but nothing like it, still open, overdraft still in place - however, I'm gonna clear it and take MY SPARE GRAND to the shops!
ALSO,
Still waiting on bank stats from Halifax - they're gonna drag their feet I know it! reckon another £2K+ owed.
Thanx to all for your success stories! Wish I'd have had the balls to do this sooner and I might have been on a beach somewhere HOT this summer instead of enjoying sunny (lol) England!0 -
Bank: Halifax
Reclaimed: £2347
Actually Recieved: £1856
After starting in April claimed back £1856 as i couldn't be bothered to go to court. It took 59 days for statements [and without them charging £10], sent 1st letter and got a "sorry" reply, sent 2nd letter got an offer of £1236 and phoned and increased. The 2nd letter did take approx 4 weeks but i saved myself the hassle of applying to court and more expense, it was money i thought had gone.
Massive thanks to all the experts for their help and support.

Bank - Abbey National
Amount reclaimed - £1745
Amount paid - £2400
The story
<TABLE class=tborder id=post5772529 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD class=alt2 width=125></TD><TD class=alt1 id=td_post_5772529>I stuck with it and followed the info on this site and won hands down without even having to go to court.
I sent every letter on this site and got nowhere. The last letter i sent with the court threat they replied by saying " If you feel the need to take this matter to the courts then we have no way of poreventing you to do so"
So i did just that and I applied to go to court as they said they would not back down. Paid the £120 and then got a letter from the Judge at my local court saying that unless the Abbey could prove that they were justified taking the £1745 in charges, and that they had not admitted liability by refunding other charges on accounts within their organisation, then there was no court case to be heard and they had to pay me in full + interest + fees.
THEY PAID ME £2400 :rotfl: :j :rotfl: :j
Stick with it and it will be worth it.
Many thanks to all on this site for your advice and support and an even bigger thanks to Martin Lewis for starting this in the first place !! :money:

Just a quick note to thank this site for getting my bank charges back from RBS.
Amount asked for £1750 (included interest)
Amount received £1750
I basically used the site to calculate amount plus interest - and sent letter 1 with print out of calculations. I waited 40 days, and there was no reply. I sent letter 2 with print out of calculations - they wrote back saying they needed 6 or 7 weeks to process claim. 8 weeks later I was beginning to get annoyed, when suddenly a letter came in saying they would pay up. BRILLIANT.
Good luck to the rest of you0
