Well done on the job OP. Good luck.
(Incidentally - last bit on the insurance - you all know fronting's illegal and can invalidate your insurance?)

Many have their mum or dad 'front' the insurance policy using their age and experience as well as a spare NCB on an unused policy, naming the youngster as an 'occasional' driver.
We did this for both our daughters until they were 25 and able to enter the market as a new policyholder but having 8 years of driving experience.
When I past my car test and bought a Morris 1000 5 months after my 17th birthday, the insurance premium I paid was miniscule compared to what is demanded today.
I don't believe that the kids today are worse drivers than they were in 1966. They have more traffic to contend with firstly, but mainly it is now down to the 'compo culture'. Being hit at a relatively slow speed would normally cause little damage, but when you add the personal injury costs it becomes ridiculous.
Back in 2011 someone ran into the side of our BMW. The damage sustained was minor just a few scrapes where rubber touched pain. Yet by the time the repairs were complete and the personal injury claim was sorted (my wife suffered mental anguish) it cost the guilty party's insurance company close to £10,000!!!! The damage to the vehicle was estimated to be about £500.
'Fronting' is fraud.I have a simple philosophy:
Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.

The type of car insurance usually given to young male drivers“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Not possible to do these days. Try adding a teenager to your insurance as additional driver and see what happens to the premium!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I'm guessing you don't know what an Access course actually is then.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Our son is 17 next month and we have just added him to one of his dads cars' insurance policies and it cost us well under £200, we wont be fronting as he will still be keeping his motor bike for the better weather (probably getting a bigger 'bike in time, he has also stared to buy/do up/sell 'bikes as a second little pocket money business too) he will drive the car for the rest of the time (49% maximum usage but he wont be allowed to tow straight away so it will be very, very easy to keep well below that)
He will be starting to build up his second no claims discount on his dads' car too so hopefully when its time for him to get his own car the insurance wont be too heavy though it will be a while before he wants another car because he loves the car he is going to drive, we have had it forever and hes been driving it since he could reach the brakes/clutch/accelerator.0 -
Classic cars do attract a much lower insurance premium. Not many teenagers will be driving them though, so far from the norm.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

hmm ok i will have to look into the student loan abit more but so far everyone has told me it goes on a credit rating. i appreciate everyone help and input i just hope people do not think i want to sponge off the state i just want my son to have a decent life i want a career so i can provide for him but when there is no jobs out there to put yourself through college etc you do need help off someone you cant live off thin air.
A career development loan does rely on your credit history, a student loan does not. You can't get a student loan for a college course, unless I think a foundation course done through the college. A CDL is through a bank for up to 2 years of study usually post grad.
Remember not all paramedic degrees get funding. You need to check out the uni you want to apply too.0 -

Its not a classic car, it is a 1990 imported vehicle but its just insured normally alongside my husbands other car, its a 2.7 engine and we were very, very suprised at how little it has cost us to add him especially because we have three vehicles in the household and we will have three drivers come next month.
I think our case is more believeable than most because we have owned the car he will be driving for a long time and didnt buy it/another car because he is comeing up to 17 and because he has his bike insurance with the same company so they understand he has another source of transport.0 -

You were called a scrounger because you were maximising your benefits by (pretending) living apart from your partner and kid so no apologies are needed from anyone. If you think I'm wrong then sue me.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
