apparently because we have a child we will get housing benefit.we Cant get student loans due to credit ratings after being made redundant so many times and not being able to pay things has ruined our credit ratings stopping us from getting student loans.
I cant put off college because college told me i have to do it this year because its 2 year course and once i get to 24 years old i will have to pay for the course which is 9 grand a year so they tell me.
Even if one us work were only going to get min wage jobs, where we live our no jobs we have to travel out of town and based on rent of £90pw £50pw travelling £40pw car insurance food £50pw electric and gas £30pw baby stuff £50pw adds up to £310pw min wage on 40 hours only brings home £215pw which is why i said we never lived together before because on minimum wage you cant survive. which is why we both need college and uni to get careers with good paid jobs

Thats £215 plus ctc plus cb brings the total upto around the £300 mark so its doable. You would probably be able to get other benefits aswell and your missus could get part time work. Are you sure you can even qualify as a paramedic in just 2 years?

i wasnt aware that i could get ctc if your in work? i didnt get it last year when i was in work? they said i wasnt entitled to it cos i worked? and no college is 2 years for paramedic (public service course) which gets me the qualification to uni which is another 4 years

I didn't think credit ratings affected student loans. Who told you that you can't get one?

The bank told me it goes on credit rating, the college have told me the same and so did the national careers service tell me the same thing.

You said you were living apart. So your partner who had care of the child would get the CTC.

yeah thats right but they told me i wouldnt get the ctc if i lived with her and neither would she thats why we lived separate but now we live together so is it right that if one of us worked we would get ctc cos then it might be poosible for us to do it that way?
  • Do you have any bad debts with the student loan company?
Is the course you are planning to do eligible for a student loan?

I think you need to do a bit more research regarding student loans, a quick google has just told me that having a bad credit rating will not prevent you getting a student loan.
