I got stung a few times a few years back, but soon got wise to the conmen.
This one guy was selling 2 items this one time - ornaments that were quite delicate and needed careful packaging (they were 'collectibles' from a certain popular sci-fi series.)
They were £20 each, which was about average at the time, and £10 each for P & P. My husband purchased the items and the listings even said they would be carefully packaged and sent by special delivery.
The items came a week later, in the SAME box: a flimsy box, barely stronger than a cereal box: one of the items was chipped, and the other had a bit broken off which we had to glue back on! It had just come in the normal mail too: no recorded or 'special' delivery. And the package (with both ornaments,) cost £4.65 to post! He had charged is £20.00 in total for posting alone! (£10 for each item,) and they were supposed to have been sent seperately!'
We were so disgusted, and my husband was going to complain the seller and even thought about complaining to ebay!
I said I had a better idea...
We left it another week, and said that we had NOT received the ornaments. We hadn't signed for them, so there was no proof of delivery.
Upshot is: he had to give us a FULL refund: £20 postage and £40 for the items.
The one and only time we ever did this, out of over 250 items our family bought over about 8 years...
And I am NOT sorry!
That said: Regarding the original post: If I had paid £4.00, and it was £2.80, I would not have fussed over the £1.20 extra. As someone said earlier, it's not just the postage cost you're paying for, there is the packaging materials and the time it takes to-ing and fro-ing to the post office. However, in OUR case, we paid £20.00 for 2 items that should have been sent by special delivery and should have been carefully packaged, and this did not happen. He just bunged the two items together in one flimsy box with NOTHING to protect them, and he paid four pounds something to post them, after charging us TWENTY pounds!!!
Disgusting, i would of messaged they seller, and explained how unhappy u were, and returned the items recorded mail, and had your full refund, as what you have done is classed as FRAUD,Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0 -

Firstly: Yep, what goes around comes around all right: this guy ripped us off by overcharging us over £15.00 extra for postage and he had to give us a refund, because as revenge, we said we did not get the items.
Secondly, get a life. Just tell me you would not have been p1ssed off to have been charged £20 for postage and then found out it was only just over £4! yeah right!
I am guessing you advocate ripping customers off then?!
YOU should be ashamed! :mad:0 -

YOUR opinion! As I said, I'm NOT SORRY! :j He had it coming and deserved it! He KNEW he had charged £20 for postage and promised special delivery and careful packaging and everything, and he did not deliver what he promised. So HE was the fraudulent one! For charging £20 and spending four!:rotfl:
As I said, it was the ONLY time we did it, but of course you are not ackowledging that. How convenient.0 -
But Chrissie your situation was very different.
You did not get what you paid for i.e. items packed properly, sent individually and by special delivery as agreed.
That is a different matter altogether.0 -

it doesnt matter if it was once or 50 times it is still FRAUD,, i always post everything recorded because of buyers like you, but i do charge correct P&P,
you should of contacted the buyer and see what he had to say he may of offered u a refund, or at least sent him the items back recorded and got a refund the right way, not by frauding people,Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0
