Overcharging means quoting one price and then charging a higher one.
Not really, price fixing has been a problem in the UK, and to some extent still is. Prices that are clearly visible and accepted by the public have later been found to have been consistently overcharged. By people complaining have so many bank charges been refunded and the banks started to change them. Check threads on here from a few years ago with people saying there was no point complaining the bank charges were there for all to see.

As a seller I would look at things differently, but you are free to withold your custom.

What would your view be if the seller had to make a 20 mile trip to the post office with the package?

Not having a dig, just interested in your way of thinking.

    I sell too.;)

If the PO was so far away I would either increase my start price or more likely, use a courier for those who would accept courier delivery. Either way I would charge postage and packing at cost.

That was in effect down to a technicality that a bank could not "fine" someone. A bank can charge whatever they like for a service though as long as the charge is up front and clear, and the customer has a choice as to whether to use the service or not.
Example being an arrangement fee (which could run into thousands) on a mortgage.

So you would not charge for your time and fuel?
I find that interesting and can only assume it is purely a hobby for you.

Are you saying that ebay will not allow the buyer then to leave poor stars if a seller can show they have different arrangements to the next person?

That's what this argument is about now, not what we can justify, but whether buyers will go for it without hitting our stars. Everything else is immaterial.

I assume you are a seller if you have knowledge of how important stars are - have you never been left a poor star if you charge all these extras for p and p, do you only ever get 5* across the board? As I keep asking, are you happy to believe that those buyers who have been restricted are mistaken?

    I am just interesrted.
I have only ever sold relatively high value items £50.00 plus.
Always send courier and I charge a fixed amount of £12.00 unless a lot of packing is required.
The customer would not know what I pay but have never got less than 5 stars.
Then again I have only sold 100 or so items.

I have just posted on another similar thread. It has happened again. Cost £2.60 plus plastic bag, total £3.00, I have paid £7.

It seems it is becoming common that sellers are putting the highest available postage cost on goods which cost so much less to post. When buying one off items of clothing there is no option of buying from another seller.

So, should I just accept the overcharge, ask for a refund (without mentioning stars) or just think the seller has their chance and chose to overcharge so leave a low star?

can I most humbly ask if you raised the subject with the seller before bidding?

No, because it could have arrived in a box, tissue wrapped and it would have cost in that region.

And does it cost you that amount to send?
