and right back to the start
how do you define what the postage fees are?

The actual charge made by the PO/Courier and no more.

I don't mind not adding to P&P for my time, as long as it is a level playing field and all sellers are doing the same.

But that would change in very complex and unpredictable ways as you added items to your basket from one seller.

Also, you wouldn't see on the parcel costs levied by 3rd party mail companies and costs like franking machine contracts.

For heavens sake no one charges the exact actual charge be they a little private seller or a large company.
So what do you propose to do with those sellers that offer a flat rate? because your never going to be on a level playing field with them in regards to postal costs.

I look at a transaction on the price overall , if i feel the postage costs are way ott i just move on to a seller that is more realistic. I dont mind postage being over the stamp price so long as its not a huge massive amount.

For me, this argument just demonstrates that eBay is there for its own benefit (not the benefit of its customers - neither buyers or sellers).

That's the primary role of a business. It's not a public service.

That is true but most companies have to pander to customer expectations on a range of things which prevents them being complete barstools, online doesn't seem to have so much of that allowing the big companies more freedom to really not give a monkeys and whilst that may be praised as capitalism it's not so good for those of us at the bottom.
