over charged on ebay postage. can I please have some good advice?

so do you routinely ask sellers how far they travel and by what means, and if appropriate what mileage they get from their cars before you leave stars?

Do eBay give more slack on their stars to sellers who have to drive to a Post office? if not, then charging for transport costs is a dangerous game to try.

As a buyer, I'm paying for postage and packing.

I have no interest in, and in fact don't care how far the seller has to travel to the post office.

If it's that difficult and inconvenient to post the item, maybe the seller needs to reconsider if eBay is right for them.


I don't know what it is about this sort of thread, you think you've said what you need to say, then you get a strange urge to start posting again!

Ebay cant legally enforce jack. the seller can just say cost of buying box, tape, printer ink, labels, cost of shipping the item (getting it to post office or whatever). Ebay have no legal recourse.

In short the seller agrees to a sale contract the moment they commit to pay, it doesnt matter what it actually costs the seller to send.

? leave you a 1/2 for postage and if enough of them do that you will firstly be restricted and then banned.

ebay can choose to operate their site like idiots but if thats what happens I will move on.

But since I dont sell regurly (first thing I sold this year) then I think it will take a while for these to accrue

To put it bluntly I actually lost money sending this item.

It was a unused new item of clothing that a old gf didnt want as wrong size, I knew it wouldnt sell for much probably but stuck on ebay as I would be doing someone a favour who was trying to get new clothes cheap. It sold for 99p and I had to buy some parcel tape which cost me about £1.50.

It shows how silly ebay's policy is where people are supposed to match courier fees on their postage charges. If someone wants to overcharge, undercharge whatever that should be up to them, and the buyer can choose to ignore and move on if they dont like the dispatch fees.

Thing is you only need 2 people to give you a 1 or 2 star in the same cat [over a 12 month period]for sanctions to start coming into effect if you only have low sales.
