I currently have Infinity, and my understanding is as follows:

I can watch BT Sport online/via an app at no extra charge and without having to re-subscribe to a new 12-month contract. ie: no cost and no commitment?

Is that correct? (I'm not concerned with watching on my TV via Sky/BT Vision.)

    Thanks in advance

If you already have 12 months or more to run on your BB contract, no new contract would be required. If less than 12 months, then it would.

    Are you sure?

I can see that is the case if I wanted to watch the BT Sport channel on my Sky box, but I can't see it written anywhere that this is the case if simply watching online/via an App?

    Yes, I'm sure.

Sorry, don't mean to be argumentative, but I'm not sure I agree. From the small print:

BT Sport – Available 1 Aug. Residential broadband customers only. BT broadband customers can watch BT Sport online at home with a minimum line speed of 400kbps. To watch BT Sport online elsewhere you need 3G/4G/wifi (charges may apply). To watch BT Sport at btsport.com you need Microsoft Silverlight. The BT Sport App works on iPhone (3GS and above), iPad (iOS 5.1.1 and above) & selected Android devices with OS 4.0). BT Sport is also available on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform and BT TV with Infinity for new and existing broadband customers who sign up for 12 months or have 12 months remaining on their contract; ongoing renewal needed to get BT Sport at a discount.

Bolded part refers to online viewing and does not mention signing up for 12 months. The underlined part seems to be where a contract is needed.

Well thats how I understand it, but obviously I could be wrong.

Perhaps the BT Rep could clarify?

Edit: Just looking at your link again, under "BT customers with the Sky Digital Satellite Platform", it says "This will start a new 12-month contract of your current BT Broadband package".
Whereas under "BT Broadband customers", it says "BT Sport launches on 1st August. From this day, you can access the online player at BTSport.com. Or download the BT Sport app from your app store to get BT Sport on the move.
You'll need a BT ID to log in and enjoy the action from 1st August." No mention of starting a new 12-month contract.

Just phoned up BT and got clarification:

To watch online/via an App, there is definitely no commitment required.

To watch using Sky, a 12 month contract is needed. Also note that if you currently get your broadband at a discounted rate, this would not be applied to this new contract. ie, I am currently getting a discount on my broadband and there are 6 months left on my current contract. If I re-subscribed today, I was told that my 1st 6 months would be at the same rate, but the remaining 6 months would be at the full rate.

    Hope that helps

I moved house 5 years ago and left sky and went for the cheaper freeview+ option. I have an old sky+ box (non-HD) and was originally intending to use this to sign up for BT sport.

I moved to BT broadband in April.

The clock card on my Humax has finally given up the ghost so I'm looking to upgrade. I've just realised the BT Youview box is indeed a Humax box.

So I can purchase my own box for Amazon for £219 or pay BT £49 plus £5 per month.

But as I can't get infinity am I right in thinking I can't use the Humax to provide BT sport on my TV?

    Thanks
