I am in the same boat too, I renewed 24/04 and was told it would take up to 8 weeks, rang up at 8 weeks to be told that it was having additional checks but they did not require any more information from me, but was told someone would contact me with in two weeks, well that two weeks is up tomorrow and heard nothing from them, not that I can say I am surprised. Finding it very frustrating as everytime I call up to see if there is an update they can't tell me anything just that they don't need anything else! Not impressed with them at all and just want it all sorted! But nice to know I am not alone!

I just rang up again and the lady I spoke to has reffered it as priority again to tax credit office and been told someone should ring in another 2 weeks so that's 11 weeks since I renewed upto now. She said to me again that there was nothing on my claim to suggest that any additional checks were being done and there was definatley no request at the minute for additional information. She could not fathom out what was going on, she also went to speak to a manager who said the same thing aswell. Don't no what to think now just hope it gets sorted soon but not holding my breath!!

It's absolutely ridiculous though, I don't understand why it is taking so long if there are no problems! My husband is on hold with them at the moment to try and see what is going on but I doubt we will get any further, we have just got to the stage now where we have given up with it but every now and again we ring and have a strop at them again lol, fingers crossed they won't be long for us!!

Husband has just spoken to an extremely rude woman at tax credits explaining the situation that we are expecting a call back today and she said to him well that's not going to happen is it, you will just have to wait! How unprofessional is that! So my husband asked to make a formal complaint, she then gave him the number to do this, spoke to the gentle ment at complaints who said his son is going through the exact same problem and he has put a complaint in himself! But we were basically told tough we will just have to wait until the renewal has been processed and we won't be hearing anything from them! Cannot believe how rude and unprofessional these people are! So don't have a clue now how long it will take x

That is really bad, Im just getting to the point now where im thinking sod it. we have done all we can everything is logged on the system so the ball is in there court now. If they want anything Im sure they will be in touch. Im wondering if there was a problem with people who renewed in april because me and you renewed around the same time and there is another lady on here who I think renewed the same day as you. I just think its very strange that we have been waiting so long yet there has been no request for information from us.

I hate tax credit renewal time. I only renewed on the 24th June (2 days after I received the paperwork) but from April until my renewal is complete every year, it's never far from my mind. On the day my payment goes in I even set my alarm to check the bank each week as I am so panicked that my payments are going to stop. I have no problem being checked and claim is fully above board, I just panic that I won't have enough money to pay the childminder if something goes wrong. Can't wait until mines is finalised. I was told 6 weeks but fully expecting to be checked as childcare costs are £304 per week x

    Hi all,

Are the people who are being kept waiting claiming for childcare costs?

I sent my renewal back 3 weeks ago and still not heard anything, not claiming childcare, just standard CTC and WTC, just wondered if it is likely that we will also be waiting for the 11 or so weeks that the previous posters have experienced?

    Many thanks

Hi I am in exactly the same situation as you. I am 11 weeks on friday since renewal and still no further on. I like you was told someone would ring me in 2 weeks and this time has now passed with no phone call. Everytime I ring I get told its still processing and no one can tell me anything else. The only thing they can tell me that is at the minute there is no request for any other information. We must just be special lol. Would be good to hear how you get on!!!

I am on the same boat!
someone suggested it relates to people who renewed in April and I have my own theory; I renewed straight on 19/04 and my P60 has not been sent to them by about 20/05 so they had nothing to check against also did my self assesment on 19/04 so as well takes time to process before details will be available to check against ; therefore been put on some pile to be looked at at later time ... and 11.5 weeks after still on that pile :) next time will call much later

Yayyyy!! Woke up to two extra amounts in my account and called tax credits and my renewal has been finalised!! :)

I claim for £300 childcare costs per week so it just shows that not all childcare claims are being checked even if they are very high! I had all the paperwork sat out anyway but was just scared I had been overpaid for last year as 25% of my weekly award is a significant amount of money!! :D Thank goodness it's over! lol.
