Tax credit renewal 2013

Has anyone renewed yet?
I did mine this morning was on the phone for 15 minutes they asked me lots of questions, more than normal. Checked all my details declared my earnings and made a change to claim.

They told me not to ring back till after 24th june, 8 weeks i asked why so long they said for additional checks than normal.

After she did my review she said it came up with an extra question, if my child is now 5 and at school why am i claiming childcare. I explained this was for an average of the holidays for both my children.

I said i had kept invoices if necessary.
SO more of a thorough check than normal. Hope its not 8 weeks though i hate things dragging on.
Has anyone renewed yet and how did it go?

My pack hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't been able to renew.
I wonder if they are being so thorough with everyone to make sure they haven't made any mistakes, before they have to hand over to Universal Credit.
  • yes it would be interesting to hear other peoples comments who have called to renew as well. To see if they giving out same timescales to people and being more throrough with everyone.

    thanks for your reply.
This year my renewal pack was on the door step on the 19th April same as last year!

I am confused that mine this year says I don't have to ring unless something has changed. It makes me feel uncomfortable not to have to confirm it!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!
  • SQ was yours in a brown envelope if it was you dont need to ring!
I wont feel comfortable till i get the award notices in my hand. that way i know its been done. Last year lots of people waiting for 8-12 weeks !
  • anyone else rang yet, were you also told 8 weeks lead time to hear back

It is 8 weeks if you have been selected for additional checks, 6 weeks for the rest of the claims. Brown envelopes are automatically renewed as long as all the details shown on the notice are still correct.

Haven't got mine yet but I can't do it till I get hubby's p60 anyway. My tax credits were slightly lower than normal today
Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T
  • So ive more than likely been selected for the check.
I will get prepared then and dig out all my child care invoices and utitily bills P60 etc ready. The only thing i dont have are payslips bank statements which i can get. I dont have receipts for childcare but can prove these payments as the payments leave my bank so they will see that on my statements.

Unless they telling everyone 8 weeks to stop people ringing!
  • she said 8 weeks to me......additional checks....... and wouldn't allow me to make my childcare cost changes over the phone! apparently I have a letter on the way to me..... stressful as hell!
  • Thanks for replying.
The dreaded letter I bet we both get one then reviewing our child care. That's why we've been told 8 weeks

Make sure you get your invoices and paperwork to hand. I've dug my invoices out ready I am missing one or two months so will ask for copies.

My problem is the invoice has the head office address and the kids are at one of their sites hope this don't make a difference.
I will write an explanation as to say the invoice address is the head office and write down the managers number so they can ring and check. I only use the child care for holidays so not claiming a lot.
I saw last year these people who got these the reviews took weeks some 3 Months I hope it don't drag on. I want to know my money is right
