As I stated earlier up the thread - I am that tax payer who gets hard earned cash too.

    You're a welfare claimant too.

I work in a finance department, cost efficiency is a huge thing in business, we have our shareholders to please.

That's because your firm offers a service that people pay for.

Government departments are having budgets slashed - should we expect them to be more efficient with the budgets they do have?

You seem to be ignoring that handing out welfare payments is not a profit making enterprise. You would never get shareholders to invest in paying out welfare as they would lose their money because welfare costs the country. It's not only the welfare money that is handed out, but it's also the wages of the staff that the country needs to sort out those welfare claims. Welfare will never run as private comapnies do as private companies have to make a profit to please their shareholders; who want a dividend.

I assure you my tax deductions are rather more than my credits towards childcare costs ;) (and mine are not old enough for school yet)

Taxes pay for schools, NHS etc all the things you and your children want without having to pay extra when you need them.

Welfare (such as Tax Credits) is for those in need. They are not a tax rebate: if they were, then everyone could claim Tax Credits.

You seem to be getting the two confused.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Does anybody know if the day we receive our tax credits into the bank remains the same each year? I usually receive mine on a Thursday. I sent my renewal back a few weeks ago & noticed today that I'd received a payment into my account for a few pound more than my usual weekly amount. Am impatiently awaiting the paperwork :D

Do you think this could be an extra payment or my new payment amount, paid on a different day/early??

    Thanks

    Miss MoneyPenny ,

We claim Tax credits becuase we are entitled to them and because we earn under the threshold, which does not make us welfare people. we could just sit on our bottoms and claim all sorts but we dont.. We teach our kids that you have to work to earn money and pay the bills. I have worked since i was 15 years old and never relied on anyway even now when iam single parent..

ID like to see how you would cope if you were on a low wage , which going by your previous posts you have have been very lucky not too have been or you have a partner who earns enough for you not to have to claim ;)

Hi mine took 10 weeks to renew but I I'd have a compliance letter regarding childcare, and last year took 12 weeks and last year it just took that long. Have they indicated if your claim is with the compliance team ? Or it could just be waiting to confirm your p60 figures. If its been more than 2 weeks I would call them again and stress that you concerned cause the longer they take you could be being over paid.

Some people who work, claim more welfare than those who don't work. Those under 25s on JSA, only get £56.80 cash a week. https://www.gov.uk/jobseekers-allowance/what-youll-get

You seem to be saying you think you are better than other welfare claimants, even though you might claim more welfare money than them?

It's strange, but the harder I work, the luckier I get.

They will not tell me anything .. They not mentioned compliance or anything.. Just my payments are continuing and it is being prossessed .. Not good for someone who suffers from major anxiety .. I hope there is no over payment .. Thanks for you reply. Really helped.

Sophiecat, this happened to me and it WAS an extra payment that was confirmed by my paperwork. Usual payment arrived on the usual day :D
