As the idea behind phoning HBOS is to settle your claim out of court they are unlikely to pay this as a partial payment. If you can't get them to up your offer you will need to start court proceedings for your full claim.0

I bargianed without the intrest. I claimed for £1400 but got £1200. They put it in my account 2 days later. I'd just go for it.
Called but didn't really get anywhere, spoke to a girl who email 'Richard' (the manager who sent me the offer letter). He's going to either call or write to my within the week. I'm still sending a letter with a time limit before court action. I let them have their 8 weeks, which is up on wednesday so I think I have been friendly enough!0 -
I'm a little scared now. I just phoned halifax and was put through to their new dedicated team for bank reclaims. Asking if they had recieved my 3rd letter they had but told me i had to wait 8 weeks but gave me the date 30th august. I dont want to wait that long and told her that. i was friendly and nice but she stood firm and said no to everything so how long roughly does the court case go on for because to be honest i'm petrified and thought this would be easier.

I have just called a different number, and spoke to a completely different person who says they will process my claim for me as i said i was unhappy and had only accepted low offer for speedy resolution during a very poor month financially. He essentially asked me if i wanted to claim for any more, so i said yes, if he can process it and ask for a revised, again, offer of £1000 to be paid into my account ASAP. He said he would get someone to look at this as soon as....
Too good to be true and just telling me what i want to hear to shut me up!!!
I will weep tears of joy if this works out for the best!

Well i'll be damned!! They have my my previously aggreed amount £650! But wierdly enough, not into the account in question, but my current account. (Now i thought they could only pay it into the account it related to!)
I'm delighted, was aiming for £1340 plus interest. They offerred me £455 which i declined as it wasn't even 50%. They said they calculated it as less than me. So i accepted 50% based on MY calculations. I wish i'd been strong enough to hold out for more but i couldn't budge the guy!!
I have another account going through the motions, i don't expect it to have much on it, but wish me luck!
Onwards and upwards all!!! You will get there eventually!!! Now i'm off to pay some bills!!!
I can feel a couple of zero balances coming on in my debt freewanabee list!! whey hey hey!!!

I've recieved a letter today with an actual offer and I was really shocked as its only taken 2 weeks and 5 days since I asked for a re-evaluation, I have been offered £434.50 and my total claim with interest was £907 so I have phoned 01977 627422 and they have now sent an email to David Gillott as he dealt with me and made me the offer and he is due to ring me back in the next few hours, I'm feeling really sick at having to ask for more but I'll never know if I don't ask.
I just don't like the sitting and waiting.0 -
i just rang the number and asked if they wished to make an offer and i would cancel the court papers, but he said he couldn't help..........
roll on my day in court then!!
:cool:0 -
Well how quick was that I've had my phone call back and I was asked what offer I would be happy with, so I said £700 and he then offered me £651 which I happily accepted as my real happy offer was £650.
I'm so pleased that it has finally been sorted out and I've had a result, I just want to say thank you for this site and everyones posts as the info really helped me.0 -
Hi, I have gone through the process with Halifax. They deposited a measley amount oin my account so reading other mail I rang them up and asked them to re evaluate the account, at first they offered me 50% of the ammount (without interest) that I am claiming and when I turned them down they said they are allowed to go to 75%. I have told them I will think about it whilsdt I wait for them to contact me about my other accounts. The thing is I don't think that 75% is enough as they are already going off the figures without interest already! I am going to stcik out for more as I am not afraid to go to court!!
So don't be afraid to bargain with them!!;)0 -
I have been trying to phone and talk to someone all week about reassessing my claim but they all seem to be hiding!!
Admittedly work limits the times I can actually get use of a phone, but I can't get anyone to answer.
As I've already been dialing a couple of numbers I found earlier on this thread, any hints on the best time to phone them, or the best number to use would be appreciated.0 -
Hi,
I called the 01977 today as i recieved an offer of £1400, i am claiming £2300.
They told me the most they can give me is £1700, which is 75%.
I told him i was still unhappy & would call back as he was not budging past £1700 no matter what i said.
What shall i do now??
Can i claim the rest through the financial ombudsman? or shall i get them to speak to their manager.
Does anyone have any advise as i would like to call them back tomorrow.
Thanks0
