I ended up giving Halifax the 8 weeks to make an offer as I changed jobs & the pay date was put back two weeks!!
Anyway they have offered me £1106.50, I'm claiming for £2,484.
I'm a bit worried about phoning them and not being great at bartering. I'll be happy with the full amount minus the interest. Should I just say that straight away or start off with the interest??
Any advice would be brilliant!0 -
Having rejected the Halifax offer of just under half, I was told that I would hear back by the 17th July. I have just checked my bank account and they have payed in the amount that was initially offered. Is this the norm, or does it mean that my refusal of the offer was not logged?
HELP PLEASE!!

I bargianed without the intrest. I claimed for £1400 but got £1200. They put it in my account 2 days later. I'd just go for it.0 -

I think that I am finally getting some where with this awful excuse for a bank! Recieved a call back from a chap in the Liverpool customer service centre on Friday telling me that an offer letter was being sent out to me which I should be recieving Tuesday (tomorrow) I was not too sure if I should believe this or not so I called back up this morning and was told that it has indeed been sent out and will be with me tomorrow! cool! I guess now its just seeing how much they offer me and what I can get out of them (I am a proffessional Sales Person by Trade so should be fun) The only question I have is do I try and ask for the interest back or just settle for the highest figure that I can, bearing in mind I am claiming back £2625 worth or charges.

The bank aren't obliged to pay any interest as this is awarded by the court so bear that in mind when you speak to them.0

Hi. I have had the usual refusal letter from Halifax, then I asked for re-assessment, and told i'd get a reply WITHIN 8 weeks. I recieved a 'good-will' offer of half my reclaim amount after 4 weeks. Has anyone taken it further with Halifax?? I really want to persue it further but would like to have an idea if i'm likely to succeed. I dont want to lose my offer and get nothing at all!!0

Update::
Got a letter today, started off with the same mutterings as before but as i read on realised i had an offer of £1500. I phoned the number on the letter and politely turned down the offer but made a compromise, awaiting reply now. I made it clear if they did not accept my compromise i will have my day in Court.

Update: Part two:
Need your advice folks
Recieved the phone call and though the conversation was very pleasent i could'nt get the bloke to go passed 75% of my claim, without interest :mad:, he claimed that this was now policy and he was unable to go beyond 75% at his level of Management
I told him that i would need to sleep on the matter and he will be calling me back tomorrow afternoon.
I'm i right in saying i can accept this payment and still continue my court case ? as i feel that i have enough reason to carry the case on and explain myself in court.0
