angel
also try 01977627422
i spoke to a chap called jacob yesterday he first tried to fob me of how i needed to send the letter back and sign it
i stated that it does not request this it states that a cheque will be sent and to accept just cash it so he say that he will send them a reminder
try the number above as that one ending 313 is not answering0 -
I had sent the original letter asking for details of my account etc and got a letter back saying they had recieved a high volume of this request blah blah blah and I could expect to hear from them within 40 days of the date of my letter, when I counted up the 40 days and gave them a call, they informed me it was 40 working days, not what it said in the letter.
I also called customer services and was put through to the team that deals with the next stage, the orignal letter had no telephone number or return address etc. Because I didn't actually have a reference number that fit with his requirements, I got fobbed off for half an hour and was told they had no record of my claim.
I then called back the next day and spoke to customer relations, this lady was somewhat more helpful and advised me of the 40 working day thing. She also told me about the charges to my account, however when the letter came there was a severe difference to what she had said and what the printout said, in my favour. just a good job I decided to wait for the letter, she also told me about other accounts and said she would be sending me a form regarding this, this has still to materialise. It will be three weeks on Tuesday.
so now I have the letter teling me where to sling it, it would appear to be the automatic one we are all hearing about. Have registered with the small claims website and it will cost me £80 to claim back a little over £600 so think I will be going with the ombudsman if it gets that far.
For now we are going to try the number, however the number that is on the letter is for customer relations and not the team that deal with these, use the number that everyone is printing in their blog as this is the department dealing with these.
good luck to everyone, if we don't get a satisfactory response, the other letter is off in the next post.:cool:0 -
I hope my information is correct, but the wife of a good friend of mine works for the Halifax and has told me that they are going to pay out on all letters recieved. I realy hope this is true because they owe me 3.5k.
Got my statements last week and am onto the next stage now.

Just remember! It's your shout - but from experience they do make offers to the timescale (in fact within it). So may be worth holding out for an offer!0

Claiming £5,801
After initial rejection 6th June rang the 0845 number at the top of the page for re-evaluation was told they had until 31st July to reply, however on the 5th July received a offer of £2,950.50. Tried the 01977 numbers no reply so rang the 0151 number at the top of the page eventually they put me through to Neil the customer relations manager who sent me the offer told him the usual. He asked me how much I would like I replied £5,500 he said he would have to speak to someone above him and would ring me the next day.
The following day good to his word he rang to say this had been accepted and I would receive a cheque within 14 days.
I was polite at all times and found Neil to be very polite and helpful.
Hope this is of interest.

Just for those wanting to know, I got a decline letter to my complaint, I was a little unsure how they decline a complaint but nevermind, it was basically telling me to go jump. Instead of going down the letter route I thought I would give them a ring first, I spoke to a guy called Lee who did his best to try pretend I wasnt asking for my charges back & said it would be reviewed again within 14 days, I pretty much told him the timescale. I rang the 0845 number on the top of the letter but I rang first thing & got straight through, I would suggest you do this to avoid sitting on the blower for ages. They are open from 9-5 Monday to Friday but 9.30-5 on Weds.
From what I have read Halifax do fob you off at first & if I am honest I would try to ring them before sending letters, they are know for negotiating so it seems the court route isnt required unless you want interest, of course the otion is yours.Official DFW Member 587 :T0 -

Well had the offer of half teh amount on my Bill Payment Account from teh BAnk of Scotland, I phoned them this morning and was immediatley offered £3000 which I accepted.
The bank charges claimed have gone into paying off almost all of my debts only left with my credit card now. However due to my credit rating which will become awesome in the near future I see no problem in transfering this ballance to an interest free credit card offer tipe of thing.
BIG THANKS TO MARTIN (I'd buy you a beer if I could) and all who helped on the forum.

I am tried of being lied to from Halifax..
