Sounds like a standard 'put off' letter. Just carry on with the claim process and good luck!0 -

i have been chasing £2888 form the halifax and i recieved a letter today offering £849:huh: I have phoned them up saying that i was not happy with the amount offered. The chap on the phone said that i will hear again from them by 17th July. Is this the norm, as i am now concerned that i will get nothing.

Update about this.
I called Halifax today, and asked to speak to someone about charges on my account. I got through to a very nice lady who took a quick look at my account and said that she'll refund the charges on account. No further questions asked. She also said that a further charge was due to be put on my account in a few weeks, but she will put a stop to that.
Can't believe its been sorted out by a simple call.0 -
Has anyone had problems getting through on the 01977 number? My brother tried several times yesterday and today but it was just ringing out and ringing out...
Cheers

I received an offer basically 46% of my claim after asking for a re-evaluation due to a complete rejection. I called the 01977 number and spoke to a lovely lady. I offered to waive the interest. She asked me to hold while she consulted her manager. in the end when she came back I was offered 88% of the claim minus the interest. She said that that was as far as it could be taken today, and she wasn't authorised to go any further as there were settlement amounts set for credit cards, not current accounts. I wasn't sure if this was !!!!!!!! or not but I thought 88% was better than nothing and I need the money back sooner rather than later. Happy to get a result though.0

What is the most painful method of for the Halifax as I want to cause them as much problems as possible to get my money back? is it FOS or Moneyclaim?
Thanks
The FO charges the bank £400 for following up your complaint if that helps.0
