Been 6 days since the date of my letter offering me all my charges back... still no bank credit yet.... I've heard stories that they don't pay in within the 14 days they state. anyone had this problem?

I rang them up on day 14 and they said they were currently very busy and dealing with the cases which were submitted the day before mine and so it may be in that day or worst case scenario the following day. I checked my account 5 minutes later and it was in there!!

After speaking to who I think was Graham on Monday, I received an offer in the post yesterday (Wednesday), it was for £1,329.00 and I'm claiming for £2,619.00, so basically half. I rang the number on top of the letter which was a different 01977 number and spoke to a lovely guy called Neil who looked at it and said what would I accept to settle and I said, whilst laughing cheekily, £2,600??! He said it would have to back to be re-evaluated again and had no timescale. I asked if we could possibly settle it on the phone to save the waiting and he put me on hold. He came back and said that his manager would like to offer me £2,600.00 if that's ok (???!!), I said yes that would be fine and it will be in my account within 14 days. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

Let me know what you are offered. Good luck

Just been through the whole procedure from start to conclusion today.

Initial request for ststements was 17th Feb. Recieved them , sent the letters as per the MSE guide. Was politely turned down, first court letter was sent, again turned down, sent all documentation to FO on Monday this week. This morning recieved an offer for £1039.50, originally claimed £1800. After reading this thread I contacted them to say I was not happy and what could they do for me ' over the phone', I hadn't finished the sentence and the girl had upped the offer to £1600, I said if they would offer me £1700 today I would accept. She hummed and hawed and then said yes. As easy as that. By chance I checked my balance on my account and already they have deposited the original offer in my account. The remainder goes in tomorrow. :j I get the feeling that they have no choice but to refund the charges. While on the phone it sounded like it was a call centre I had called with a number of operators dealing with this type of call. The girl I spoke to basically tried to barter with me, fantastic:j . It was like being at the Barras in Glasgow :D !

I would just like to say a big thankyou to this site as today i have just wond my bank charges from the halifax.

I asked for £3967 from requesting my statements

I received the usual letter stating that they were not going to pay me out, so I replied stating that I would take them to Court.

it was two weeks last friday since i delivered the letter by hand to the halifax, as i had not heard anything I decided to call the 0845 1241330 number, i was told that they had eight weeks to respond to my letter, ( yea right) i was very polite and made nice conversation with the lady.
I decided that i would call again yesterday just so they still had me in mind, basically i wanted to harrass them without being nasty. I called the 0845 number and spoke to a nice gentleman who told me that an offer letter had been sent out to last night, he wouldnt tell me the amount but he did say quite loudly to me " if you are not happy phone up and re-negoitiate".
Today i received the letter from the halifax offering me £1776 as a goodwill gesture. I decided to bite the bullet and go for it, so i rang them up again and said i wasnt prepared to accept that amount, she asked me what i would accept and I said £3000. Staright away she said fine £3000 will be in my bank withing 10 days. easy as that.

cant thank this site enough, now its time for my other account fingers crossed i will get a couple of hundred from that also.

  • Newbie:confused: I am on step 3 of reclaiming charges back from halifax got the refusal letter back just wondering where do i send the next letter do i send to my bank address or the address on my refusal letter which is a customers relations address? Do you need to ring them up and ask them to look at the case again or can you just go straight to sending the letter threatening to go all the way to court? any help appreciated.

I am hoping someone can give me some quick advice before I go out to the post office.

After my success this week with my first HBoS account I am now sending off the LBA for a second account.

Baiscally my query is whether I should mention my success with the first account in the standard LBA I am sending? Will it help or hinder my claim?

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated

I rung up and asked for my case to be re-evaluated, then waited nearly 7 weeks before receiving my first offer (50%) i rung again and had it upped to 100% (no interest), though i did ring several times during the 7 week wait. I finally got somewhere by ringing Richard on one of the 01977 numbers.

    Good Luck

Fantastic news - well done :T
I've just printed out my bank charge calculations to send into Halifax today so I hope I get the same result as you. I'm claiming £2832.96 - most of which was my WFTC so I'm going all the way with this.
    Enjoy the 'win'!

  • I had a decline letter from Halifax on a cliam of £1500, I had written back with a court letter about 17 working days ago, I still have not heard anything. I called and spoke to a lady on Monday who confirmed they have recieved the letter and is awaiting to be reviewed by the manager and may take upto 3 weeks as they have a back log of claims. My worry is are they just putting there case together? Should I proceed with court proceedings now, or wait to hear from them. Has anyone out there got a claim from Halifax and if so what was the process?
