He told me he was going to email my claim off to be looked at by a team of senior advisers who would make me an offer within the next 10 days. Does this sound like the truth or does it sound like another classic halifax fod?

I have just had a letter offering me half of the credit card charges owed to me, which I was going to accept, however have now noticed that it states they will pay this into the credit card and not direct to me. (I no longer have or use the account but there is a balance.) Called Halifax to ask if I could have the cash via cheque rather than paid to Halifax card and they advised that if there is a balance, any refund must be paid into the account.
Just wondered if anyone else has encountered this. I was going to chance it and write to say that I'll accept this lower figure if paid directly to me, however if it MUST be paid into card balance I will pursue the full amount - any advice?!0 -

Don't worry. The credit balance on your card will be paid to you via cheque but you have to request it
Personally I'd hold out for at least 80% of your claim thoughGot It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -

So looks like standard answer from our friends at Halifax, just keep plugging away seems to be advice from everyone that has won money back already. Good luck.
Where are you at with your claim? Don't be dictated by their time scales or you'll be waiting till Christmas :xmassmile
If you are waiting for statements and its over 40 days complain to the ICO
www.ico.gov.uk and you'll get your statements within 2 weeks
If you have given them 14 days before you take it to court and you get fobbed off take it to court www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and don't forget your interest! 8% over six years is 48% (6x8=48) so if you got charged £10 six years ago you are entitled to £14.80 back when you win in court!
If you are going down the F.O. route then complain to them, they charge the bank £400 for every complaint (apparently) and the more of us that complain the sooner the banks will pay us all out what we are asking for!

Dont even know if I;m sending this to right place cant make head nor tail of this site. I am claiming bank charges and am at the stage where the court have sent a letter to Lloyds and had given them until 7/7/07 to reply. That has not happened but the moneyclaim site will not allow me to claim by default as they now say I must give them 28 days. Any advice please0

Don't worry - I'm sure your post will be moved to an appropriate spot.
Anyway. The court allows 5 days for post and administration to catch up with your claim. so 14 days becomes 19 days and 28 days becomes 33 days unless the 19th or 33rd day fall on a weekend or bank holiday at which point it moves to the next working dayGot It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0
